    I'm thinkin snakes. Opinions please~!
So at the current I own 4 snakes, One RTB, one BP, and a pair of Brown Watersnakes. They are all rescues that were either dropped off at my house or in the case of my RTB, taken from owners who were about to leave him behind a restaurant beside the dumpster. I've decided that I would really like to have another snake, this time one that I picked out myself...

I have space and time, I don't really have many guidelines as to "I want it to stay under/at ___ feet" or anything of the sort and I'm very adaptable to special needs and specific requirements...Anyways, I was hoping to get some owner feedback about types of snakes. So if you have the time, tell me what you would pick and why, even add a picture if you've got em!

I only have ball pythons and a columbian boa, but I've always had a "thing" for carpet pythons. Pictures don't generally do them justice, I held a baby one not too long ago and she was just the prettiest thing ever. I also like Brazilian Rainbow Boas, they are really neat looking. I don't have experience with either so I couldn't help you there. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback though! I was thinking of Rainbow boas a bit too, they're amazingly stunning.

OH and my friend Brian just got some super dwarf retics....they are AWESOME looking. He did an unboxing video and they looked really curious but friendly. Retics are cool but get WAY too big for me....BUT super dwarfs are mini....and still pretty cool :D Sorry had to add this...it just popped in my head lol.

I think some sort of colorful king/milk would be a nice addition to your collection. Pueblan maybe?

For pythons, I'd suggest a dumerils or carpet.

Kenyan Sand Boas and Hognoses are pretty cool. They are on my must have list. They are smaller snakes that look really neat.

Another thing you could do is get a morph. You already have experience with BPs and RTBs and there are some pretty cool color and pattern mutations.

Thanks all for the feedback so far!
So far on my "Possible list" I've put:
    Rainbow Boa
    Hognosed snake
    Plublan Milksnake (or similar)
    Green Tree python
    or
a Bumblebee BP (there is just something about this morph that I LOVE)

Why not go for a colubrid? :D Most are enthusiastic feeders, decently sized, good tempered, and gorgeous (what snake isn't though? ;)) Also rat snakes are pretty active, so if you have a display cage, they could be a good choice. There ware so many species and subspecies of rats, milks, and kings to choose from and many of those each have a plethora of morphs. Check out http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/species/elaphe_guttata/ for a bunch of beautiful corn morphs.

Thanks SoFarAway, I do think Colubrids are awesome too and there in lies my problem. I think all snakes are really cool in their own right, that's why I'm having such a hard time deciding what I want to add to my collection next. It'll be my first pre-meditated snake...

But also at the moment I don't have room for any more display cages until I rearrenge some things and I'd feel a little bad putting a diurnal snake in a tub like my RTB and BP. I was surfing through the wanted ads and found a pair of black blood babies that I'd absolutely love but I'm unsure if they're for me, the owner was asking for offers and I'm terrible at knowing what a snake is worth (if I ever had to sell mine I'd probably make them a million dollars or something ^_^;;;)

I will also say to look into carpets. Similar care and temperments to ball pythons (although they can be nippy as babies), but are far more active and inquisitive.

I vote for either a Dumerils Boa or a Carpet Python. :gj:

Thanks, I've added Carpet Pythons to my list also, I've been seeing some really stunning ones on Fauna Classifieds

    ^I hate that place!

Check out diamond and scrub pythons too.

Also don't forget to take into consideration that carpets come in different sizes.

Irian Jaya's stay the smallest and average 4-6 feet. Jungles get a little bigger and can get to 7ish feet. Coastals are the biggest, with close to 10 feet not being unheard of.

I like larger snakes, I've always said the reason I'm not so big into ball pythons is because they seem small to me.

Is Fauna Classifieds a bad place? Like I said this will be my first pre-meditated buy so I don't know any breeders personally and I am not a big fan of large scale breeders.

I've never used Fauna Classifieds to search for sales, but I love the board of inquiry. I typically used Kingsnake.com, but if you have the opportunity to go to a reptile show I think that would be your best bet. I've only been to one so far and it was extremely small, but actually seeing a snake in person before you buy it is great.

    Np :)

I looked for some black blood breeders to see what a fair price for them would be and I found:
-Bob Clark http://www.bobclark.com/prices.asp selling them for $150
-Intriguing Reptiles http://www.intriguingreptiles.com/Bl...odPythons.html selling them for $175-275
-The Bloodline http://www.thebloodline.net/available.html selling them for $150-225

Hope this helps you with making an offer if you go with the Black Bloods. VPI also has them, but is sold out right now.
