Unboxing 1.1 Super Dwarf Retics - guest appearance by new Black Pastel
Here's my new 1.1 of true Super Dwarfs! Excuse the sniffles. I have crazy allergies and everything is blooming, pollenating, and causing me suffering in the Pacific Northwest right now! I also snuck in my new 1000g Black Pastel at the end.

Thanks for watching!

Awesome Brian, congrats!! They are so cute and tiny!! And your black pastel is pretty too :gj:

A big congrats! How exciting:D
-
Brian they look awesome.... I really need to get myself a pair...lol
-
Very cool snakes! I thought my allergies were bad...
-
...AND they eat!
Just a quick little update. They both just ate their first meals with me :D Voracious little creatures. I was hovering the whole time and they didn't care or as much as move when I moved. Definitely different than the balls!

Thanks Leah :) I've had a month of adding awesome stuff. I need a break. I'm tired of toast, eggs, and hotdogs to eat.... LOL!

They are awesome dude. All the great things about retics in a tiny package. They are also known for their incredible docile demeanor. They had no issues with me hovering while they ate. They don't seem to be head shy at all either.

Mine are terrible when the weather gets nice here. We're just starting to get some sun so everything is making me itch, sneeze, and sniffle. I can't do antihistamine or I end up with sinus infections. That pretty much means I suffer until I get evened out on my own accord. Thankfully it is usually only a few weeks!

B

The retics look great! (As does your black pastel she seems very chill)
I was considering buying a bumblebee from Evan.
Enjoy the new little ones!

Thanks on both accounts. The black pastel is extremely chill. She's one of the most laid back snakes I own for sure. They are interesting. New side project to keep my busy :)

Thanks  My allergies are bipolar I think. Some years I have absolutely no reactions to anything and others I react terribly and suffer for months. It's the coin flip of doom. This year has been terrible for me. I have to steer clear of allergy meds because most of them dry me out and I end up with really bad sinus infections. I'll sniffle over splitting sinus migraines any day of the week.

Awesome snakes man. I have a few questions about sd's. Is there anyway to identify for certain that they are 100% and whats the average size of an adult?

Well, first off any of the morphs are crosses. I believe they have proved a pinstripe as the only morph a true SD can produce. To the best of my knowledge, the indicators are the head scales and eye shape, the extremely docile temperment, and size. Mine are 50% related. The mothers are around 5' and the father was a little over 4'. These are full grown animals. I found some good info on www.retic.org and a bit more on www.thereticnation.com It is really hard to track down good info on SD with all the secrecy concerning what island they are from and where most importers and breeders stock come from. True SD are much smaller than the dwarf retics. When they start crossing them to get morphs you end up losing a lot of the SD characteristics from what I've read.

Great info man I appreciate it.

Nice pair of SD's. Their heads look so big when they are young.
-
Sweet little retics Brian :gj:
The black pastel girl should make some smokin pewterbellies!
I'm glad you like her so much she was my favorite out of that clutch and amazingly was that chill right out of the egg.
-
VERY nice new additions!!! Congrats!! I really like the SD's!! Nice video too :gj:
-
I've never seen those before. Beautiful snakes! I love retics, but I don't want to keep anything as huge as a full sized one. But those....those look like they would be awesome to keep!
(another thing to put on my have-to-have list)

They have huge heads and eyes. They follow every movement. I pulled the out to switch their paper and they follow every little thing with both head and eyes. Very inquisitive snakes and really not afraid of anything. They allow you to pick them up with out as much as a hesitation.

LOL! My list just keeps growing. I just put payment on another hatchling ball morph. I won't have her for a few weeks.

They look great! I'm really jealous. I think an SD is going to be my next snake.
-
Awwww they are gorgeous! Congrats! :gj: Can't wait for more updates :) Your grin was a mile wide! :D Great pics in the gallery too, Thank you for the video! That black pastel was smoking! :O
-
Thanks for sharing B....I'm going to be on leave the next two weeks. Hit me up when you wanna do lunch and rap about snakes. Also, you going to the show in Portland next month?
-
What about Friday? I got some plans tomorrow but Friday works great.
I'm not sure on the show. I want to but I'm undecided at this point. I have a few more snakes incoming shortly and 5 more by the end of the year so I don't know if I need any more temptations in front of me :) AND it's a long drive!

Wow, I wish we had dwarf Retics or burms here in the Philippines, no one is breeding them. Very nice!
-
Your video is nice....but, seeing them in person shows how amazing they really are!
-
Sweet!! Good luck with them! Will be nice to hopefully see more true super dwarfs in the market! :D

Oh yeah, I'm only going to mess with the real deals. These two are 50% related. They had the same dad.

Okay look, you guys need to stop bumping this post because every time I click on it I have to do a search of kingsnake for super dwarfs. These little snakes are just so gorgeous. I'm insanely jealous. This is my next snake. Seriously.

I better not update their pics then because they have been going through wild color changes. ;) They are soooo light now. Almost a carmel look with purple spots on their sides. They are getting crazy looking. I can't see how someone wouldn't appreciate these SD in their natural form.

Correct....that rat rack took a hot minute. Corey asked me when your snakes would be having babies.....LOL. I told him a few years & he ask me if I could get him one before then. I told him that I wasn't sure.....

what site did you get these from? do they have any normal SDR for sale?

Ohhhhh I think I could survive a picture update. :)

Re: Unboxing 1.1 Super Dwarf Retics - guest appearance by new Black Pastel
They are just gorgeous!! And I love how chill they both were too... was it only because they were cold or are they still as laid back now? It's amazing how relaxed they were about you touching their heads, just kind of hanging out. I'm really considering getting one of these guys at some point, and I agree, I think their natural wild colors are much more beautiful than any morph.
*edit* I would love a picture update as well! :D
