Damaged Pride
Just was showing a family member my BP collection and as I pulled out my friendliest one of course (who recently laid and has been eating)... like a moron I put my hand in front her and she took the bait by striking, coiling, and not letting go. Only my second bite, first coil, and first for her. Well I can atleast say listerine works cause she wasn't planning on letting go until that came out. I will say the listerine hurt worse then the bite. PRIDE Completely thrown under the bus.:tears::tears::tears:

Ouch, that sucks. How did your family member react?

Re: Damaged Pride
Knock on wood I haven't had a contact bite yet. :D I've had strikes though.
Think of it as a badge of honor, all the best handlers have had their fair share of bites.

I'm sorry. I'm sure it wasn't personal- it just always has to happen in front of someone:tears:

My Burm ate me earlier this week. I kinda did the same thing but dumber. It happens

I would try water first next time. It doesn't always work, but it's not going to hurt to try. It worked for me the first, and so far only, time I had a strike and coil and it doesn't sting like Listerine.
Sorry it happened in front of your family. :(

Well the family member (my father in law) who is not scared of snakes.... of course laughed and I'm sure I wont live it down.... ever. Guess I can add it to my embarrassing moments list. I tried water first because I figured the listerine would burn but she didn't budge infact she coiled harder. I must have tasted really yummy. Atleast I took it like a champ. I would put up aftermath pics. but they are just tiny lil teeth marks and truly its my Pride that;s hurt because as she striked I was saying she was my friendliest one and not to worry. I think she just wanted to say SHES THE BOSS!!!

That sucks
Warm/Hot water will do the trick every time. Cool/Cold water makes it worse every time :O
Welcome to the hardcore public bite club

Well, at least your FIL didn't freak out and make things worse.
I am quite positive one of these days I'll join this club, but so far I'm still on the outside looking in.
Good for you to keep your cool and not go flailing all over the place.

Oh I know how you feel.. I was cleaning my mouse tub when a whole bunch of my sisters friends decided to ask to see my snakes.. They were freaking out abit getting very excited and started asking a lot of questions, the best thing I said was that they were extremely tame and no chance of biting.. I forgot to wash my hands, and guess what happened.
