My other passion...monster fish!
Hi all I just wanted to share some pictures of my other passion. Monster fish keeping. I currently own a red tailed catfish which with right care can reach 5' easy. I have a planiceps catfish who also can reach that size or larger. And last I have a red belly pacu which can get to about 2'. I am building a heated indoor pond for them so they wont be kept cramped for long. :) without further adieu my fish!

I don't have any good pictures of my pacu (Gertrude) but I will try to get some...
PS the pond is a 8x8x3 and is going in my bedroom. :)

I'm big time into Tropical Fish as well, but currently don't have a tank running. I love the monsters! I go on Monster Fish Keepers and just drool at all of the cool fish. Cool rtc... any updated shots of it?

Nice catfish!
Your bed room must be huge!
Re: My other passion...monster fish!
I would love to own one of the snakehead species, sucks that they are illegal!
Anyone here keep any species of mantis shrimp?
Difficult to keep in a tank with any other animals, and they are capable of shattering a glass aquarium, but they are amazing crustaceans!
They create super cavitation bubbles when they attack prey and the interior of the cavitation can reach temperatures higher than the surface of the sun! You can even see a flash of light as their forelimbs strike!
Pistol shrimp are pretty damn amazing as well! They kill fish at range by snapping the claws shut at amazing speed, the shockwave kills the fish!

Pistols aren't too destructive! I kept a breeding pair of bullseye pistols for several years until my eel found and ate them. But until then my wrasse would try to hunt them and get popped in the face all the time. He would get spooked away, but he'd always try again, no harm done. I was shot several times as well and it feels like a quick rush of water. I can only see it harming nothing but the smallest of shrimp or fish.
I'd try a mantis but I know if I set up another tank I'd just put an eel in it.
Very nice catfish, too. Got to love the monsters.
