How old/how many grams. It looks like its likely a super if its anything above a yearling/500g.

Looks like a nice pastel to me... When the light stripes to the neck don't connect all the way like that, it can make those interesting light marks on the head like that.

I'm no expert, so I'll leave the identifying up to others. I must say though, that is one gorgeous Pastel/Super Pastel for 1,000g!

Just my opinion here but it doesn't look like a Super Pastel or a Pastel. It looks like a Ghost or a really light normal. How much did you pay for it?

I could finally look at the pics and I think its just a nice pastel. What did you pay for it, the reason I ask is cause if you paid 500 or so you def. paid for one, if you paid under makes me think you were told one thing and bought another. Is this breeder at the expo often so you can talking to him about this mix up?

Hmmm...I looked at the pics again. The eyes look kind of light so I am not sure it isn't a Pastel. I don't think its a super though. Supers are really bright. Like this:

That's a hatchling. (edit: hatchlings are *typically* brighter...depends on the morph though.)

To the OP, clearer pictures would be better, but at a 1000g with that color, you likely have a super pastel.

paid 300 for him talked to about 3 other breeders at the expo all said it apears to be a super the pics really dont do him justice he is really bright but i will still plan to breed to a normal female to prove him out

I personally think you have a Super, but like I said, I'm no expert.

To ch^10, thank you. I was about to say the same to the person who posted that Super.

At 1000g I would say super with that much yellow. Most pastels have a noticeable amount of brown by then and the ones that dont lean more towards gold than yellow.

He doesn't look like a Super Pastel to me at all. I think he's a very beautiful Pastel. If he were a Super Pastel, $300 would be lowest amount I've ever seen one being sold for. The lowest amount I've seen was $400-$450 for a male hatchling Super Pastel. Here you got an Adult male for $300, that doesn't add up to me. Good luck breeding him, I'm certain you'll make some beautiful BPs.

    No problem.

To the OP, just for reference, here is my 700g pastel; she's not the best example of the morph, but you can certainly see the marked difference in a pastel and a super when they have some size.

I'll say super, I've seen supers that go for the price that you bought your's for.
I think you'll have to breed it to another pastel to prove it out as a super.

Wow I can't believe all the people who have replied that they don't think it's a super pastel.

They must not have seen very many super pastels that aren't hatchling pics on the internet, because that is EXACTLY what a nice super pastel looks like as an adult.

100% for sure a super pastel, and a very nice one at that. Not anywhere close to looking like a 1,000g ghost, not anywhere close to looking like a 1,000g pastel.

Noticed that as well this place is an amazing recorce for Bps but it seems like it's been infested with alot of spam and people just looking to post but again thank you for all the positive ids I really needed to know that I didn't pay 2 times as much for a regular pastel

Nobody deserves to be ridiculed for saying that particular animal looks like a pastel. I have seen a few older (5+ years) examples of exceptional pastels that look like they could be that animal's twin. Without knowing the animal's age, it's hard to say. A 1 kg animal could be 2 years or 10 years old. The markers I look for on adult super pastels are flames and the grayed out hypo-ish pattern, which OP's animal is lacking. Dorsal blushing is a less reliable marker because there are plenty of pastels with a lot of that. Anyone who said pastel probably has a mental image of exceptional adult supers like the ones on Albey's website. I know that's what I think when I think super pastel, but I keep my eye on exceptional examples of every morph and I sometimes forget that every animal I come across isn't going to be a star among its peers. Even NERD's adult Pastels and Supers can be difficult to tell apart. The photo quality of OP's animal doesn't really help on an ID, but if the animal is brighter than what the picture shows, and if breeders who saw it in person at the expo said it looked like a super, then it's most likely a super.

With your picture quality, it is hard to tell.

Here is my Super Pastel for comparison. I paid $300 for him.

I'll be totally honest with the animal being as far away as it is and not really in focus it's hard to tell for 100% sure. I've got supers and I've got Pastels that could pass for supers I've seen. With all that said here is a 3 year old 1000 gram super for you to compare your's to.

    Best of luck

Looks like a super to me. One thing about the internet/forums is most people tend to post pics of thier BEST examples of any given morph. Also, some keepers here with pastels/super pastels only have hatchlings/subadults in thier own collections for reference. Most pics on breeder pages are of shiny babies. My hair was blonde when I was a kid, then it turned dark brown/black, and now it is going grey.:D
