    Balls in the grass
I got a chance to take my three ball pythons outside today for the first time. It is such a gorgeous day out today so it was perfect.

This is Alice, male normal. If anyone has any advice to help me switch him to frozen it would be appreciated. I've tried the zombie rat dance many, many times. I've left prey in overnight too. I even tried tuna water. He is a very sweet boy, though a little shy. I just really don't like feeding live.

My two pastel males, Mater and Binoo. They look quite different from each other. I think Binoo is a bit nicer looking, (on the right) but Mater has a much nicer temperament. Binoo is still rather scared and nippy.

    Thanks!

One pastel was bought unsexed, the other was bought as a female. But of course with my luck, they both turned out to be male. Along with Alice the normal who I also bought as a female. *sigh*

Have you tried heating the rats head with a hair drier? Works like a charm for me :)

I can try that, but the rats are always nice and hot from the hot water I use to thaw them. I will try that though, see if it helps.

Thats horrible luck, did you buy them from a breeder? Did you get some money back?

No unfortunately. The unsexed one was from a breeder, but it was unsexed so...
The other two were Craigslist dealies. I actually did contact the person about the pastel, but she blew me off, said she couldn't buy him back.

Nice pics. I actually like the more aberrant patterned pastel myself!

I really like your normal he is a looker in my eyes. I have one that I have to feed live also. He ate frozen for a while then all of sudden he wouldn't touch it. I threw in a live and he was on it quick. Also my baby Boa is eating live. I hate feeding fuzzys. I can deal with the larger rodents a lot better.

Thank you! I'm the opposite, I have trouble with the larger ones, the fuzzies bother me, but not as much.

Just wanted to say thank you for this advice. I tried it tonight and it worked! He took it right away!

Of course this happens on the day that I lined up a new home for him.

    A new home ????

I think all your snakes are beautiful, but the "normal" is gorgeous !!

His pattern and color are outstanding, and that head pattern ! I'm not saying he is a morph or has something hidden going on (but who knows...) but he is really, really good looking. There is no way I would place that one !

If you want a female, sell one of the pastels, should sell easier anyhow. Get a female super pastel and you have a nice group.

Any of your snakes might at any time turn up their nose at frozen / thawed. I wouldn't sell because of that. They usually go to live (unless you wait them out) but will switch again eventually...

    Just my 2 cents :)
