    sanitizing wood questions
ok so i notices a piece of mold starting on my bps half log(not used as hide pretty much just a tunnel for her).i took it out, scraped all or the majority of the bark.no more mold.now ive been baking it for almost three hours now at 350 degrees.
how long should i bake it?how long should i wait til i put it back in?after the cooked wood smell goes away im assuming?

If you've been baking it for three hours I'd guess it would be okay to go back in now, but if you feel like you need to leave it longer for some peace of mind then there's no harm in that IMO

usually just baking it at 350 degrees for 20-30 mins is fine.

if uve had it in there fore 2 hours, then it should be good to go

yeah it was exactly 2.5hrs.and ill say it was too long as the remaining pieces of bark and edges started to singe and my house smells like nice wood. i scraped off the singed parts and im allowing it to air out since it has a smell to it now.not a bad smell just singed wood smell.
if it stills has a faint smell do you think i should discard it to the scorpion tank and just get my bp a new one?

I don't think it's harmful if it still has a smell. It's organic matter, it should be fine.

    Lol you toasted it!

It won't bother her if you put it back in there. Unless the odor turns her off. I'm sure you'd know that if she never goes back through it though.

i put it back in and she was looking at me.it kinda startles me whenever im trying to be sneaky around or in her enclosure and shes staring right at me.i can hear her investigating it as i type. anything i do inside her enclosure, move something, put something new in,she gives it the third degree inspection.

I normally soak that type of stuff in a 10% bleach solution overnight and leave out in the sun to dry for a day.

mould is a bugger if it does come back bleach solution. I almost never recommend bleach as it is very toxic, but, it kills mould and not much else does. Leaving it in the sun helps a lot uv breaks down chlorine so it neutralizes it but the time it takes might be an issue.
