Dry dimpling eggs........

o.k 13 days into the incubation, 1.1 vermiculite mix, 88-90 degrees, is this normal dimpling or dry? and if moisture is to be added how? thnx in advance.

Are you using press n seal on it.. If not hop on that and should fix your problem..

o.k cool :gj: , what puzzles me is I have done a couple smaller clutches (3 egg) with 2 -1/8th in holes on each end and lid on, no wrap. but at this point I can totally get into the wrap idea, because after all ,just the lid is far from really sealed. do you think the fact there are 10 eggs opposed to 3 changes anything?

Yes more eggs are in need of more humidity..

The press n seal will hold in more to help.. Always use press n seal when you use the method of eggs in the substrate..

When you use the substratless dont use the press n seal as the substrate will be soaked and just the lid on it will be plenty of humidity. If you used press n seal on substrateless you will cause too much moisture and eggs will get wet.

so the 10 eggs does change things, interesting. I will be buying press and seal STAT. thnx Rich:gj:.......and , oh Rich how do you like your eggs......and dont say scrambled LOL

I keep mine on the Light diffuser.. No mixing needed, 2 inches of vermiculite and then a ton of water. This way i dont have to measure anything. Vermiculite stays wet entire 2 months and my eggs hardly ever dimple.

I have 2 clutches on day 39 and 42 and their still plump.

hmm, seems your way is waay better, no press and seal,no measuring, and no problems??, so why do people do it the way I am??......just when I thought I had this egg thing figured out, well apparently I dont.

To each their own, Some ppl are old fashion and dont change what they know works for them.

Downfall to my method is rolling eggs as to eggs in substrate being held in place.

I found plastic clothes pegs to be a cheap, easily cleanable and reuseable fix for the egg rolling problem. :gj:

Yep that works and i also use Straws cut to help as well..

great info guys, thank you!!....I am going to try the egg crate method, and I press and sealed my current tub, that is going to be key:oops: from now on!!! live and learn, right:D
