Tub Sizes

I am trying to see what the popular tub size for BP's about 700 grams and bigger. I've heard some keep their bp's in 32qt's, and some with 41 qt and bigger. So what do you use?

i use 32 qt tubs my biggest female is 1200g so i prob will stick with 32 unless one goes over 2000g

All of my 2009 and up BPs are in 32 qt tubs. I have several over 1600 grams currently and my biggest was over 2500 grams until she laid her clutch and she still fit in her 32qt without issue. I would maybe think about a 41 qt if I had a female over 3000 grams but not beforehand at this point.

My biggest is about 1500 grams, and she is in a 32qt. Its big enough, but I think I am going to start putting the bigger snakes into the v-70 tubs. That is of course after I buy a new rack.

Males stay in 32qt tubs for life. Females switch over to 41qt tubs around 1800-2000 grams. There are some exceptions but that's my basic guideline. A 2000-2500 gram female and a 1200-1500 gram male in a 32qt tub for breeding seems like it would be a bit crowded.

15 for juvies. 31 for adult males and subadult females. Real big females will probably end up in 41qt.

I did it..female was over 2500..male was over 1400...got the job done. A little cramped...maybe..but less room for error haha.

We use Iris CB70 gives some extra for a good gradient and a big water bowl and hide.

with hides, or without? My smaller snakes have them

Females 1300g+ are in 41qt
Males in 28qt unless they get massive. I have a male mojo at 1600g might be moved up..

My female mojave (700g) is in a 41-qt. I've actually put a couple in 41-qts that were as small as 200g, but that's just because it's the rack I have. I know I'm lucky that everyone eats like clockwork (every 5-7 days, depending on size) - I think my situation has been the exception rather than the rule. I expect to downgrade a few smaller ones to 32-qts. when I get another rack, but no problems so far. Everyone under 1500g has one or two hides, also (two for girls under 900g), just because there is so much room in the 41qts.

all mine are in 32 qt tubs, I have two breeder tanks I put 1 male and 2-3 females
into during breeding season.
my biggest girl is 2950g and fits just fine.
the smaller ones get a hide until it gets too cramped.
I don't have a lot of snakes, down to just 6, so it works for me. I only had 10 during breeding
season, sold most of my boys though, hoping to upgrade for next season.

Well I guess everyone has pretty much already said it but I'll add my .02. I keep my hatchlings to 200g in 15qt sterilite. Then at around 200-300 I move to 28qts. I know this is a little early but with water and two hides I think they fit nicely. I usually remove hides at around 600-700 unless they are a picky eater. My adults stay in 28s or 32s pretty much until they reach 2200-2500. I don't really see the point in moving from a 28 to a 32. There isn't that much difference, at least not in sterilite. Now I just build all my racks to hold 32s and skip the 28 step. When breeding season hits I'll probably move all my breeding females to 41s. I bred this year in 28s but my 2100g female and a 1200g male was quite a tub full. Again it's jmo but hope it helps. Have fun and good luck.

What if you wanted to put your 300-400g in 41 qts? Could you do that if you divided the tub in half to make it smaller?

You could just make sure to provide plenty of hides.

Aren't cb70 tubs the same as 41qt tubs?

I have kept all of my bps as small as 200 grams in 41 qt's in an enclosed rack without hides, as long as temp and humidity is right they do fine for me. I also have custom cages I built that are 16" x 48" and I give them each 2 hides in these and I have never had a problem in them either. I have had snakes go off feed for awhile but they were pounding food in the same cage before and after going off feed so I think its for reasons other than cage size.

I have noticed allot of bps will go off feed between 700 - 1200 grams without any change in the enclosure. I'm not sure why but the majority of mine did this then went right back to pounding food without making any change's in the enclosure. What I have noticed gets the females eating again is introducing a male for a week they don't breed but they sure go back to pounding the food. You do run the risk of the female getting gravid but it has not happened to me yet. I have tried this several times and it worked every time.

My females are in 40qt. My males and juvies are in 15qt.

I have my sub-adults in 32 Qts and my breeder size females in 60 Qts (they are the Sterilites with the wheels, I just popped off the wheels) and I love them because they have enough room to stretch out, with out it being too big for them. A couple of my girls are 2500-3000grams and would be like sardines in a 41Qt. I have big dogbowl waterbowls in there for them so they can soak, and its enough length that there is a definite hot side and cool side.
