    Took in a stubborn Pinstripe..
I'm quite pleased with him, I've already fallen in love. :)
I picked him up from another member on this forum who had not been able to get him to eat since she purchased him back in August and was no longer able to keep him. She tried everything from hamsters to one week of Flagyl with no luck. He's lost 200-300g since August, a bit skinny but not as bad as my other two were when I brought them home. Hopefully I'll have as good of luck getting him to eat as I did with my other picky eaters.
He's happily situated in a quarantine tub and I'm giving him about 5 days before offering food.
So, since you all love pictures so much and since I am so smitten by him I thought I'd toss up a few I took before letting him get situated.

A big thank you to Kasey for allowing me to adopt him and also to Luke for referring me to her. :)

By the way, he's an '08 sitting at 722g.

nice pick up! My pinstripe female started off that way, didn't eat for two months got down to 49 grams, but then all of a sudden something clicked and she more then doubled her weight in just a couple months. Shes one of my best eaters now. He'll come around

well i knew you'd love him and you seem to have a gift with ball pythons. i knew it wasnt the best idea to have him shipped out my way.

if you get him back on track and are able to breed him you better send me a baby! ;)

glad i could help put you two together. :)

to the previous owner. i hope you dont get discouraged. sometimes these guys get it in their heads to not eat. it may have been one or combination of a hundred reasons.

Definitely not discouraged. Just not at the right point in life to keep as many balls as I want, lol don't we all have that problem. Im glad he has a good home and if I can get one whenever he has babies I definately call dibs on one as well :)

Well you sure have cut down significantly! And have a Carpet Python and RTB to care for as well! Haha you've got your hands full, but I'm sure you'll be back up to 25 snakes in the future. ;) And trust me, when he gets back to breeding there will be a beautiful male Pin with your name on it. I'd be more than willing to send one your way.

Congrats Kymberli! I saw the ad as well and considered picking it up, but I'm glad he's in good hands. I bet you'll get him to eat first time if you try a small crawling rat pup. Sometimes a change is just what they need to get going again. :)

Then he took a scented rat weanling!!! wohoo! Sometimes its the bedding, food, hides, temperature, ect.......... You never know. Good Luck!!

I'm sure there were quite a few people willing to pick him up, he's a gorgeous example of the morph. I drove over 2hrs one way to pick him up. :P It's true though, even if everything was perfect in one home, a simple change of place can do the trick. Strange, but possible!

That is the one thing she had not tried with him, ASFs, because she could not find a local breeder. So, if all else fails, I'll be trying that. Might have better luck finding a breeder in Nevada when I move next month, I've already found the rat/mouse breeder I will be purchasing from out there.

That I do! My normals constantly refused meals in their previous homes yet have never refused a single meal with me.. I hope to repeat this scenario a third time. ;)

Thank you everyone! I'll be sure to post an update on how he is doing in a couple months! :)

Definitely going to take some patience. He's coming up on 11 months off feed. I was told he was around 1100g and was a proven breeder who never refused a meal while with Boas and Balls. It would be nice to get him back up to 1000g+.

nice snake i love pins. i picked up one last year that wouldn't eat for anything and needed to be assit feed several times. finnaly i got him on live hoppers then f/t hoppers, then live rat pups then finnaly f/t rat pups. it was a little stressfull because he was so little http://ball-pythons.net/gallery/file...ead_667491.jpg

but now he's pounding weanling rats and has just about caught up to our other 2010 as you can see in this group shothttp://ball-pythons.net/gallery/file.../snake_mix.jpg

i wouldn't let it stress you out to much i had a ball go of food for 18 months back in the 90's when they were mostly wild caught, but it did start feeding again on it's own and when it did i gained back all the weight it had lost in just a couple of months

That Pin you have looks great now! I'd definitely be more worried if mine was smaller, but considering he's still sitting at around 700g and his spine isn't protruding too much (granted he's lost 300-400g) I'm not worried about him right now. I've heard stories of BPs going off feed for over one year and have recovered fine. Hopefully he does not require assist feeding, though I highly doubt he would considering he was eating perfectly fine from 2008 to August of 2010. Sometimes it just takes a change of scenery. :)
