can we stop just posting pics of our new boas?
I like to see new boas, but thats 80% of what we see on the threads, let's start talking more about housing, behavior, feeding, etc. please

Maybe no one has a question, but if you are looking for that info, not sure I I can post about another forum but there is redtailboas. And it is a .com. Kinda like this forum has a majority of ball python threads, same there about rtb.

    Lol.

I really hope you are joking. Pics are always welcome here, new or not. It would probably be more efficient for you to make a site topic to add photos to the boa section as a sub topic.

If your looking for major discussion on boas, it would probably be better not to look on a ball python forum....

There have been a lot of people getting boas lately, but that's hardly 80% of the posts. People like sharing their new additions, which is what most of the posts are. Then there are the questions people have been asking and breeding updates. I personally like seeing all of the different reptiles (and mammals) people are getting and I like sharing my new additions, feedback is fun.

    I'm confused....

Whats wrong with baby boas? And what kind of discussion are you hoping to see?

If you have a question, go ahead and ask...and if not...then...what are you looking for?

I have to admit, I'm somewhat offended by this. If you don't want to see the pictures, don't look. No one is forcing you to look. Go search the forums for the threads you ARE interested in and look at those instead. This forum is huge. We're always discussing husbandry topics somewhere on here. All you have to do is look or ask a question.

This forum is for learning, but it's also for sharing. Many of us have become friends and aquaintences over time from learning from one another. We care about what we do and we get excited for one another when we get something new - including baby boas.

This forum is also about respect. We value the respect of others and it's not too much to ask for respect in turn - even when we're just posting pictures.

If you were just joking, I offer my sincere apologies for the misunderstanding. If not, it's we who deserve the apology.

I guess most people on this site who are on this forum about boas already know about them. I'm much happier to see people with healthy boa pictures as opposed to users coming in with sick and dying boas asking for help!

Maybe you can read the care sheet a few times instead of reading the picture threads? ;)

So here's a pic of my most recent acquisition :) She's a Cherry Salmon CA that I plan to breed to my male Honduran Firebelly. Looking forward to some amazing colors on the offspring! :)

My most recent addition is this awesome male peruvian BCC.
    http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...arrival002.jpg
I intend on housing him in a showcase type cage when he gets bigger. I want the cage to be tall with branches to climb on and some fake greenery to make it as realistic as possible. On the heated side I will have a UTH and a radient heat panel. I hope the radient heat panel keeps this beaty hanging out in the branches. For branches I will use sun dried cypress. Not hard to get in south Louisiana where I live.
    This is the type cage I will get. This is a 60 x 24 x 30tall.

These are some decorated cages. These are all Proline cages and pics from the Proline website. Check them out.

To the OP. Look this is a BALL PYTHON site. The majority of people on this site have ball pythons. There isn't a whole lot of discussion in boa care, caging, feeding, etc. And for those that do post in the boa section. Most of them already know about caring for boas and since this forum LOVES pictures, most of the posts in this section will be new boa additions. If you are looking for more discussion on boas, either start them yourself or find a forum dedicated to boas. There are plenty of them out there. Not to be a meanie, but it was very rude of you to come in and tell people to stop posting up pictures of their boas. People here are very proud of their animals and love showing them off. And the majority of people here LOVE to see pictures of new animals or updated shots. So again, either don't look and start your own conversations in this section, or find another forum that better suits your needs.

look I was not trying to piss anyone off, I like looking at new morphs and as a boa breeder, I get tired of seeing the same damn thing. I feel like this should be about information and not just a place to show off. It just takes a long time to filter out all the "look I got a new snake" threads to find some actual info on husbandry, breeding, etc. I have been caring for snakes for years, so there is no jealousy whatsoever, I'm friends with many large boa breeders, but they don't come on here and show off. So if I offended you, sorry, but we need a separate section on show pics and then a separate on husbandry. There is not enough info yet.

You're a boa breeder and you're looking for info on husbandry, breeding, etc. ?

    Wow!

You're right, many large boa breeders don't come on here.

I don't think you pissed off anyone. I can care less if some one starts a thread with bad vibes. Kind of out of the norm though. I enjoy spending a little time on this forum. I even enjoyed this thread and seeing how people reacted to it.

Maybe contact an administator and request 2 or more separate sections on red talied boas.

Point A : I think, you need to change your thinking :P

Point B : as said, if you are looking only for information pertaining to boas, you should ask, or find another site for only boas. this is after all a ball python forum. (with alot of other sections because we snake lovers cant have just one type of snake ((or any animal for that matter)))

I too think that it was extremely rude to tell people to stop posting pics.

I personally dont have a boa (yet) but when I do believe me when I tell you that there will be alot (alot) of pics on here.

Please think about what you post, and how people are going to precieve it BEFORE you post it. Thanks.

A picture thread is much more worthwhile than this pointless thread.
