Blond Ball Python?
I have had a local breeder tel me that my little female is variation of a normal called a blond. I've never heard of this, have any of you? Here's a pic of her with an average normal and a 20 dollar bill for reference of size and color. Thanks for any info you all can give.

Re: Blond Ball Python?
i've never heard them called blonds but who knows i have one and he is just called a pretty normal
-
It's a normal just lighter than the other but a normal.
Normals vary greatly in color (very light to very dark), blushing and markings.
The only thing you will find referred to as blonde, is blonde pastel which is a line of pastel, and this BP is not a pastel.
-
High gold normal is what many call them :)
-
Beautiful normal! Supper light, but 'blond' is from a pastel line- nothing to do with normals. :)

Re: Blond Ball Python?
She is beautiful;)
I have a few colored like that. Mine are all het or possible het animals. I would say that she worth dinking around with! I would breed her to a fire or ghost male:) I love light variations of normals! Even if she does not prove out, she will make gorgeous crosses!
-
Many people call them fancys or high golds. She's just a lovely light normal.
-
I would love to see her babies with a pastel or fire! If you ever plan on breeding her to any of those, I'll totally call dibs on a baby! ^^ But, yes, looks normal. A very nice one!

Re: Blond Ball Python?
What's her belly look like?
-
She is very pretty! I would definitely breed her into morphs like fire, pastel, or hypo. She'd make some killer babies!
-
Re: Blond Ball Python?
She's very nice! I would definetly dink around with her and start with a Fire or Vanilla :D. Could prove out to be something.
-
She is to light to be just a normal... She looks almost Fire-ish or Vanilla-ish.. I'm with Robin here... Can we have belly shoot ??

Re: Blond Ball Python?
Looks a bit like my Vanilla

Re: Blond Ball Python?
Do you have any "normal" normals? Lol. The one in the back looks really dark. And in shed?
I would take either one of those in a heartbeat! Nice pick-up.

Re: Blond Ball Python?
the color, the head blushing, the blushing in general, if its a female, id buy it. id try breeding it to a vanilla first, if not try breeding a male that looks like her back to her. If i saw anything worth dinking with, that's it
-
Love her light colors and Id definently breed a lesser, pastel, hypo or something of the sort to her like most reccomended.

Re: Blond Ball Python?

I'm gonna be picking up a spider on monday. I'll probably try to breed them together next year. If she's big enough then.
-
Looks nice..
The only "blonde" I have ever heard of, is a blonde pastel.
-
Re: Blond Ball Python?
Just thought I would bump it up.
-
Hmm I'll Breed her with Vanilla... She Looks more Vanilla-ish than Fire-ish to me... Even if She dont prove and dont produce supers She could lighten Vanilla babies even more :gj:
But I''m not expert so I could be wrong ;)

Re: Blond Ball Python?
ok, I posted a belly shot, looks very clean to me. What do you all think? Can anybody tell me what the visuals are for a vanilla?
-
Vanillas generally have a head marking and Moustache similar to many fires. Your snake does have the clear center belly scales but you will have to breed it to see if it's a genetic morph and not just a normal.
-
Re: Blond Ball Python?
It looks very vanilla or fire to me. Definitely don't think it's a normal.
-
Re: Blond Ball Python?
Well, thanks to all for the inputs. I'm hoping there's something special in her. Guess we'll all have to wait and see. Probably be at least another year probably two before she is ready to breed. If this helps with anything. I have noticed that every time she sheds she gets lighter in color. Is this a certain characteristic for anythng?
-
Both fires and vanillas tend to lighten with age. Or at least hold their color. Now just choose a male to prove her out.
Fire x fire can make a super fire (black eyed Leucistic)
Fire x vanilla can make a vanilla creme.
Vanilla x vanilla can make a super vanilla which is a reduced pattern and very washed out version of a vanilla.
Look up photos of both fire and vanilla and compare to see which yours looks closest to. Vanillas often have a strange pattern. Not a normal pattern. Often with a couple random squiggles. Fires have a pattern similar to a normal with alien heads.
Then choose your male depending on what you think she may be and what you'd like to produce.
