Is it normal that...
... the first feeding with crickets I ever experienced totally freaked me out? I had a huge amount of difficulty catching those little pinhead crickets to move them from their enclosure into the tarantula's enclosure, and I was actually shaking a little brcause of how unpredictable they are haha. I hope I get more used to them as time goes on...

I don't think its weird...but then again, I *hate* crickets. They make me ridiculously anxious and I have no idea why. I can only deal well with the fat black wild ones.

Do you have any tubes of any kind in the cricket container? They crawl up in those and you just have to shake them out. You can use toilet paper or paper towel tubes but I like the plastic ones better-they have a capped end and makes it so much easier :)

I was going to get one of the cricket keeper things with the tubes, but the employee at the shop convinced me that the pinheads would manage to get out somehow, so I just got a regular KK and put some cheesecloth over the top underneath the lid so that there was no way they could get to the ventilation holes and out.
Today I used a piece of paper rolled up into a cone, but I think I'll go to a hobby shop or something and buy some plastic film and make a more permanent cricket cone tomorrow.

When they're the same colour as your bedroom floor, they are :P I like to keep my socks clean. And they're especially dangerous when you're trying to give them to the most skittish tarantula on the planet, because it's liable to bolt right out of his container when the top is opened. :bolt:

At that size they prob would escape so it sounds like you've got it set up really well to keep them in!
If there is anything you can make that you could leave inside the container that would be the easiest because they will crawl up into it on their own-just leave it in for a while. If they are reluctant to get up in it you could very lightly mist it with water-that sometimes will help encourage them inside.
I think if I had to try to round some up I'd lose my mind..haha...luckily crickets don't bother me but I'd be totally frazzled if I had to do that..whew.
Good luck with it :gj:

Thanks, and I didn't know the misting would help get them in there, thanks for the tip! I'll try that next time for sure.
