Seriously though, we should recruit a few dozen little girls like this and have them go around the country campaigning for us .
-
Of course she's smug!
"Who's THAT?"
"Lucy."

Oh, we really should. Nothing takes the stigma away quite as quickly as little girls with no front teeth running around fearlessly with their favorite pets.

"Lucy"
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Win!

OMG OMG OMG !!!!! I definitely stealing This for my Facebook !!!!:gj::gj::gj:

I'm a little annoyed at all the concern for her safety. I mean, I know the backstage guys mean well, but there's also clearly many years of companionship here.

My work blocks YT. Can someone describe please?

Little adorable 7 year-old girl with no front teeth yet gets up in front of the stage and stands there looking adorable.
Judge #2 asks, "what's your name?"
Little girl: "Olivia!"
Audience: "awwwwww!"
Judge #2: "And what are you going to do for us today, Olivia?"
Little girl: "A poem." (she pronounces it Poe -em)
Audience: "Awwwwww!"
Judge #2: "And what do you want to be when you grow up?"
Little girl: "A zoologist."
Audience: "AwwwwwwWWWW!"
Judge #2: "Okay, Olivia, you can start whenever you like."
... and then Olivia turns and runs off stage like she's got tremendous stage fright. The guys back stage are all "are you okay, honey? Is everything alright?" But Olivia doesn't have stage fright--she reaches for a wooden box that she brought with her. The guys say, "YOU SAID THERE WAS NOTHING IN THAT BOX-- Oh. my. god."
And then Olivia marches back out onstage with a full-grown red tail boa wrapped around her head.
Audience: (gasps)
Judge #1: "Oh my god."
Judge #2: (squealing) "I hate snakes!" (recovering) "OLIVIA. Who is THAT?"
Olivia: "Lucy."
Audience: "Ohhhhhh..."
And then she recited a rhyming poem from memory which sang the praises of the animals she loves and worried about them being endangered and manages to make fun of two of the judges. And at one point when the audience is in uproar she says, "I'm not done." And Judge #2 hushes them and says, "SHE'S NOT DONE!" And then she finishes, collects her three "yes" votes, and marches off stage to where the stage hands are panicking because the boa is now around her NECK, craning at the lights and the audience in that interested way that boas do.

and what other posters see as smug I see as confidence. To me, it's powerful to see such a young person share her passion in such a way. Thank you for linking to this, I would never have seen it otherwise!

Yeah. So I showed it to a non-herp friend, and it made her all teary-eyed. She's having a weepy-eyed kinda day today, and she was all embarrassed about that, but she said, "my little two boys are so upset about extinction and species loss."
I said, "I was pretty upset about it, too, at their age."
And she said, "Yeah. It's really almost criminal how we get hardened to it as we get older."

I absolutely LOVED this. It was awesome. And I'll be honest, I felt my eyes get a tiny bit watery.

Re: Best Britain's Got Talent EVER.
i LOVED the standing ovation she got, oh so cute but...
i was getting reeeealllly nervous watching the boa slowly work it's bulky-ness around that itty bitty neck!
it just looked so...BIG in comparison to her!
back stage guy: " :O you said there was nothing in the box!"
judge: "can you breathe?"
cute girl: "yes."
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
we DEFINITELY need these little enthusiasts representin' us!

I felt my eyes tear up a little bit, the "poe-em" (love her accent) was beautiful. I posted this on my FB page because lots of my friends from Farmville tell me in response to my photos "the only good snake is a dead snake". >:/
Let's see what they think once they find out that if you feed a snake properly and it isn't starving, it won't just go around devouring little girls and pet dogs all day--they actually don't prefer them.

This was so awesome! What a brave and special little girl! This sure did bring tears to my eyes.

that was awesome, we need an army of these toothless british girls to campaign for us.

Re: Best Britain's Got Talent EVER.

... I DONT cry or get teary eyed except very rarely, and typically it's just when I'm overwhelmed and angry. I dont know WTF just happened, but immediately... teary eyed.

Oh, that's awful. My FB friends mostly just humor me and tell jokes at my expense. The only one who ever threatens my snakes with the deep fryer is my husband, and it's just because he has to LIVE with them.

OMG this little girl is awesome.

I was a little concerned watching it because it did look like it was wrapping a little tight towards the end, but I agree the backstage guys were overreacting a little.
She was so cute and her poem was wonderful! I think the audience reaction was the best. :P Thanks for sharing this!

Yeah, okay. Lucy is probably frighteningly strong compared to a 7 year-old girl's neck, so caution is good... and if you're the stage hands, and you don't know from snakes, I guess I can understand why you'd be scared clean out of your wits. Honestly, I probably wouldn't even let a kid that size hold an adult boa without strict adult human supervision. And definitely not around the neck.
... but with BPs, anyway, I've noticed that there's an "ATTACK" squeeze and a "holding on" squeeze... "holding on" is done with the back 2/3s of the body, but "constrict & kill" is mostly done with the front 1/3. This little girl didn't look even remotely uncomfortable (except for her sliding headband)--that was definitely a "holding on so I can get a better look at the stage lights" grip.
(And I love how Lucy's craning her neck at the audience. She's all: "WHAZZUP, Britain! That's right. IMA SNAKE.")
