    Okay, mystery solved I think!

The first ones are double rex. Two copies of the rex gene make a really ugly patchy rat like that. Some end up completely hairless, some end up with a light coat of fur, but most end up somewhere in between. :)

The other ones with the curly hair are rex. One copy of the rex gene, makes a curly coat. :)

Were the parents rex? I've seen a lot of double rex, most grow their coats in and out (or half way). Does yours stay hairless?

The bottom one could be a Velveteen since the whiskers don't appear to be heavily curled and the coat is a soft wave rather than a tight curl.

    A rex buck.

Well ya see I have no clue about rat genetics. We breed rats for feeders and were givin 2 female dumbos and decided we would try breeding dumbos. So we bought a male n 2 females from a pet store. Our one grey female looks like your pic ( same looking fur ) lol I'll just post pics of the parents. Lol ...... It's hard enough to get BP genetics down now I'm Tryin to get rats down.

Father is not a Rex (no wave to the coat, no curls to the whisker), the mother looks more like a Velveteen (pretty much the same genetics as a Rex). Neither have curly whiskers, which is a good way to identify rexes. Velveteen rats have a wavy coat and little to no curl to the whiskers.

It's hard to tell by the pictures, and I'd have to know what lighting, etc. But the female appears to be a Blue Agouti.

I'm going to go with what I first though and say you hit a recessive hairless. It also appears that you have a decent source on getting your rats. It's not uncommon for breeders/hobbyist to have hairless in their colonies.

Not to mention there are probably no less than 6-7 ways to get a hairless rat (some recessive, some co-dominant). Some are completely bald (even their whiskers), others have no body hair with just like fuzz on their face, another has fuzz here and there and even patchwork hairless. Not to mention that these are considered standards and even a true hairless can have patchy hair.

AWWWW! Very cute! I love it when they look like they've eaten a small village.

I agree about her being a Russian over an American Blue Agouti. :)

I recently bought 5 of these interesting looking rats from a local and had to look up what they were.
I think I'm keeping a female back for breeding cuz they are just too weird! :)
