Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
The time has come for me to ask some help. I can pick either of these two before my ship date next week. I like both for certain reasons. I like the left snake because of her lighter color. I like the right snake because of the contrast. Which one is going to suite me better for breeding? She will end up being bred to my Bumble Bee male when size allows it. Help me BP.net!

Left or Right and why? (Experienced and inexperienced opinions welcome for fun but I honestly want breeders opinions on which can produce better offspring for me)
Regards,
B

I like the one on the right.
I like the contrast as well.
thats the one I would get I think.
Or you could just get them both :P
-
Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
Which one weighs more? Also have either of them bred previously? I'm guessing not because they look small. Based on personal preference I'd go with the one on the left, she's pretty :P
-
Well, I fall under the "inexperienced but for fun" category! I'd have to choose the one on the right for breeding purposes, because of the contrast. I feel that it could produce some nice, higher contrast offspring with the bee. Personally, in spiders and all morphs containing the spider gene, I prefer higher contrasting colors. Really makes that pattern pop :)
Good luck on choosing! It must be difficult lol

I really think the contrast might be the way to go. My first impression was the lighter colored animal but contrast should be more beneficial when I start breeding. I would consider both but the female Sugar flying in with her pretty much ate my budget :)

That was definately my initial impression. They are both mid 200g animals. Late 2010 hatchlings. I really like the lighter color on the left animal. She will stay lighter as she ages and would hopefully pass that on to her offspring.

This decision is a lot more difficult. He only had one Sugar left so I didn't have much choice there but these two are both great looking! I'm tending to lean towards the higher contrast animal though. Thanks!

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
Well for me, I'd have to pick the one on the left. It looks a lot less browned out, where the other one is beginning to have that dark browned out look. They are both fantastic but the one of the left looks like it will be much more handsome in the long run. :)
-
Mmmmmmmmm lemonblast.
I would go for the lighter one. I know the goal combo is the killer sinner. And a super bright KP would be wicked. Also the offspring could possibly inherit the lighter colors as well.
But I'm a sucker for light pastel combos.

You summed up exactly what I was thinking. They are young and that orange tends to turn brown. The contrast is nice but if it is at the cost of browning out I'd rather stick to the lighter animal.

I am a total sucker for light animals (not white animals though) if you can't tell by the animals in my signature ;) I was hesitant to add the cinnamon but I can do some great stuff with her too. The lighter Blast keeps drawing my eye too.
Such a tough decision :) Everyone has valid points. I think this might be making it harder, thanks guys and gals, thanks alot </sarcasm> :D

Purchase them both.. you'll be much happier ;)

You must have missed the part about also picking up a Sugar female. They are expensive single gene morphs! I originally just wanted the Sugar female but "saved" some money by adding the Lemon Blast. Oh how I love my logic  Package pricing gets me every time and I'm an ex-high end retail guy. I should know better :P

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
both look good but the one on the right looks alot cleaner :gj:

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
im with carlene here, you can see the pastel brown-out line already in the one on the right. im a sucker for light/bright snakes so i'd go for the one on the left. honestly they're both awesome and you cant go wrong with either one. good luck making a decision.

I would ask for a better picture, taken in a well lit room and preferably without flash !
I think the flash hits the snake on the left more and reflects off of her, possibly just washing out her color a bit ?
Outdoor pictures would be best, but I know its not do-able for many, yet !
But definitely a picture a bright room without flash, both snakes next to each other.
Going by the picture you have, I would pick the one on the left. It might not be a whole lot lighter without the flash bouncing off of it, but I definitely like the head marking. Just something about that one...
-
Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
It doesn't seem like the poll is helping much! It's tied at 6 right now! I like the one on the left though!
-
Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
I like the one on the left. The contrast on the right looks to me more of a browning out effect rather than true contrast. Cleaner is always my first choice when deciding on future breeders! :)
-
Personally, I would chose the one on the right. I like the fact that the brown markings don't look "washed" out. It stands out more. IMO.

Exactly what I was thinking, but I also agree with Zina, a better picture in a well lit room could make a bit of a difference. My vote is for the one on the left.

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
I would go with the one on the left. Aside from the lighter color (which in a lemon blast could be the single deciding factor), I like the pattern on that one better too. They are both beautiful snakes, but to me its no contest.

I voted for the one on the left. I prefer the lighter color, but zina also brings up a great point about the flash possibly lightening the color of it. I know when I take pics, they can be night and day depending on the position of the snake, lighting, and flash. If you can get individual pics under the same condition, it might help your decision be an easier one.

I'm thinking you're very right. Pinstripes tend to get brownish anyway so they are both considerably lighter than normal pins but I think the left snake is lighter all around.

I'm going off this picture. Flash or not the one on the left is a lighter snake. You can even see it in the blushing. I think your point on head marking is very valid. The head appears a lot brighter on the snake on the left. Thank you!

The left snake is great. That was my initial choice and I usually always stick with my initial choice.

Valid points although I think the contrast in the snake is fooling the eye. The darker overall appearance is causing that.

In a perfect world I would be all over requesting perfect pictures but I don't think that is necessary. The snake on the left has a few reasons why it should be chosen. The head and overall lighter appearance has pretty much won me over.

I have no idea who that is :) but I laughed all the same. LOL! I think the choice is still obvious. I think the left snake is better overall.
Thanks everyone! I'm going to holdout until tomorrow just in case something drastically changes so I'm still interested in opinions.

Haha, sorry! That's the guy from the show American Pickers. He's known as the "Package King", as he makes deals by packaging things together. I'll be looking forward to your unpacking video next week!

I like the one on the left better as well. Seems like a cleaner yellow than the one on the right which already seems to be browning. From a breeding standpoint I'd rather pass a more yellow pastel on than one more likely to brown faster. But I also agree with he contrast point as well. I like how the one on the right has darker pin patterning. Even still though, I'd take the one on the right.

I voted right cuzi like the contrast and she looks just like mine when he was a baby nice crisp lines etc make nice babies imo
-
I voted the one on the left. Im a big fan of light colored pins and its crosses. Base on my observation (I may be wrong though), pins usually have dark contrast on them, they usually darken their crosses, and they are more common than light colored pins. Having a light pin, or in this case, a light lemonblast means that the snake itself might have inherited a light colored pin gene, or a very light colored pastel gene which is also good.

I haven't had cable for a few years so I miss out on a lot of the pop culture stuff. LOL. Thanks Markie :) I will be receiving them on Thursday so keep an eye out!

I agree. The lighter colored animal will darken as well, but it will be less than the one on the right. I'd rather have light colored offspring. Thanks Chris!

I agree Pinoy. I've 97.3589% sure I want the left snake. I called the breeder a few moments ago and he said in his opinion the one on the left was a better looking animal as well.
I'm off to go shooting and 4x4ing in the mountains. I will respond as needed later when I'm home :) Thanks again everyone! Every post made me think about it a little bit which is awesome. That just means I will be happy with the snake I decide and not regret a decision either way.

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
I would pick the one on the left also!
LOL I warned you about the addiction:D

Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
In my opinion the one on the left has nicer colors but the one on the right has more contrast. I'd go for the contrast, but it's mostly a matter of personal preference.
-
I would go with lighter, I went with a more contrat male and I wish I would of went lighter, but as a hatchling I really liked how much contrast he had compared to the lighter clutch mate. Hes still a great looking animal but wish I went the other way.
-
Re: Which Lemon Blast? Help me decide :)
I would have to agree with the left but cant wait to see some pics after your choice is made.
-
I really like the left one. It is a hard decision though. I say the left one because it's lighter and may not turn out as dirty as the one on the right.

Mark Petros
I got one from him a couple years ago.
Old pic but the point is: Mark produces some nice ones.

I like them both but even Mark thinks the left one has more potential so I sided with him. Thanks for the opinion! I appreciate it.

Thanks, I will get some after the two get in and settled. I still haven't done pics of my four below. They have eaten twice and all decided to enter shed :) Once they all finish I will have pics of the first four. Picture taking is going to be a whole new beast.

I agree. Thanks for the post :) My end game is breeding this snake to my Bee. That's why I have 5 females and my Bee. The lighter the better for all the triple and quad gene morphs I'm trying for!

I agree she is really a great looking snake. If I was doing projects that utilized white/albino/or dark snakes that utilized the contrast more I would probably hop on it. You can see what I'm working with down below. I like light reduced pattern snakes and the left one fits the bill. The right ones is going to be available! ;) LOL.

Thanks again everyone! I've told Mark that I'm taking the one on the left. I appreciate everyone's opinions and feedback! I love this community. I'm addicted to BPs and BP.net for good reasons.

Neither. Big Gunns has nicer ones.:gj:
Just pic the one you like yourself. They are most likely sibs and will produce them same kind of kiddies in the future. Don't listen to everyone else. Get the one YOU like. It's going to be yours after all.

By the way. The one on the left that BG just noticed you picked will be the nicer adult.:gj:

If I were thinking of breeding into the darker codoms in the future, I'd pick the lighter snake. If I were planning to breed to some of the lighter codoms in the future, I'd pick the girl on the right and hope that she kept a little more contrast in the mix. But that is just me. There is no guarantee that one would produce much differently than the other.
