    This can't be happening.........
I woke up this morning to my wife asking me where Hera was. I thought she just wasn't looking hard enough (we have some fake plants in there that she likes to hide in). Well sure enough at some point in the night she pushed the lid of her tank up and got out.

I have 2 very strong locks that are for the lid but I didn't think she could lift the lid yet (she is under 500 grams). Now I have no clue where she is and worse yet I have work so I can't stay at home and look for her like I want to. There are hundreds of places she could hide and if the cats find her first..........

Are there any tips that I can use to get her to come back to us? Or to find her? I feel horrible and have no one but myself to blame........ I just want her to come back and be ok :tears:

since you cant stay and look for her now, make sure your cats arent in the room the snake enclosure is in and close the door, shes likely close to her enclosure in a small warm spot.

good luck I hope you find her

Do as search on here. Lots of posts on this and answers regarding tips. My youngest BP escaped twice, once when he was just a 100 grams or so. Lid on a tub popped open. The 2nd time, he was probably a few hundred grams more and I also thought he couldnt pop the lid, didnt have the locks on. Surprise surprise. The 2nd time he was out for a few days, maybe 4. I found him far from his tank. I tore my apt to pieces looking for him and he was in the one place i figured he wouldnt be. So look everywhere, especially close to his tank first.

    good luck.

You will find your snake! Look everywhere because they can and will fit under doors. When I found my snake he was in the bathroom that is in my bedroom. He was hiding in the base board heating. Luckily, I did not have my heat turned on at the time.

They are almost always VERY close to where they escaped! Pick a 10' radius and search EVERYWHERE within that radius. I always find myself freaking out and searching the house...In the end they are right near their enclosure in some tiny space that I never thought to look in. Good luck!

If she hasn't eaten in a while, one trick I've read of is getting a hid and thawing out a rat of mouse and putting in the hide after dragging it along a base board or something so the scent is on it.
I wish you luck. I'm sure you'll find her!

There is some really good information here. Like said they are usually to scared to venture out so usually found very close to where they escaped. Another thing is if it seems to small for the snake to fit.. rethink you would be surprised. Just dont give up looking. Wont be to far from home. good luck on your search

I'm going to look real hard when I get home. My wife has torn the snake room apart and can't find her. But she did have an idea which scares me. In that room one of the grates that sits of the ductwork for our central heating is a little too small. It's a few inches too short to cover the entire hole that leads into the ductwork.

If she got in there then god only knows where she could wind up. I don't even know if she could get out of it if she did get in there.

She is most likely not very far away from her enclosure at all. When my BP got out she was literally not even 2 feet away from her enclosure.

    Good luck.

Well i had my first escape. Took a quick cell phone pic to send some1 left the tub open cuz i was in a hurry cuz my food was about to burn and didnt realize it. Went back upstairs and was like :rage::rage::rage::rage:. First thing i did was block the exit under the door.... Started to look around and remembered a post from here. The snake was in the rack next to it sitting on the flexwatt lol.

The few times I have had escapee's they both went to the closet and got into the clothes. I would check there.

I checked the closet real fast before I had to dart off to work. But I didn't think about the clothes! Thanks for the tip!

OMG I LOVE MY CAT! I was sitting at my computer desk talking to a friend over skype about how Hera got out and I noticed that Muffin was peering into a heat vent. I watched him for 5 seconds and then he jerked his head back and went back to peering in.

I immediately jumped up and ran over and looked in and I saw the unmistakable pattern of a BP :) She was slithering along in the ducts and I was able to reach in and get the last 5 inches of her tail or so and pull her out.

Aside from being cold and dusty she is fine :D She is now in her tank (which has both locks secured) and is resting in her hide. She may even eat for us tonight................I think I am going to buy Muffin a special treat:banana:

Its good to hear that you found her. I would be thanking the cat also. My dog has helped me find a few escapee's.
