How do you remove a slug from a cluster off good eggs?

Well, as the title states :) How do you remove a slug from a good clutch of eggs? I ended up with 6 good eggs and 2 bad eggs in this clutch and was able to remove one slug easily but the second is stuck to 2 other good eggs.Is there a trick to removing them without causing harm to the good eggs? I assume that if I leave the slug attached that it will eventually mold and possibly kill the good eggs , correct?

yea u wanna get it off there because of mold, i would just be really careful and pull the 2 good eggs off the bad one and if you do rip it from what i understand you can actually band aid the hole and you should be grade A :gj:

If they do not easily pull apart you can do 2 things.. Use a piece of dental floss around the attached area to gently, very slowly, work them apart. Or just leave them together.

Bad eggs that mold and rot should never bother good eggs. Good eggs resist mold. To be on the safe side, keep some anti fungal foot powder handy. Sprinkle some on the good egg attached to the bad one to prevent any mold from transferring once the bad egg begins to rot. But no, good healthy eggs should never grow mold or support the growth of mold. Bad eggs have been allowed to simply rot away and drain all over good eggs and the good eggs hatched with no problems. Someone posted a pic of this a yr or two ago.

OK, I was able to slowly and VERY gently remove the slug with no harm to the good eggs. This being my first year breeding and only second clutch I was quite nervous to attempt this but all went well :) Thanks

No problem.. As you get more clutches, you will learn how to separate them quickly with no problems :)

You don't have to remove them, they will not harm the good eggs.

If you do remove them you can dammage your good egg and then it will go bad.

I always leave it and have never had a problem with it, and I don't use powders or anything.;)

I don't unless they are easy to remove...

I do the same. Sometimes they are stacked too high for the egg box, in which case I'll just separate the one on top. I do try to remove the slugs and infertiles though.

I left my bad eggs attached to the good eggs last year. I had one go bad on day 18 and the two eggs it was attached to were just fine. I didn't use any powders or anything. I would leave them if they aren't easy to remove in the future.
