What will you charge for your babies?
This is my first year breeding, and I am hoping that it is going to be a success!

I bred my normal girl to my male spider. I am planning on selling all of the babies, but I am going to hold back a female spider if I get one.

I am not in this to make money, mainly just for the fun of it. But the ones that I do sell I want to try to at least make back all of my costs and time.

What would you charge for normal and spider babies?

I was thinking I would charge $50 for normals (male or female). I know this might seem high, but I am planning on only doing local deals and more than likely no shipping. I figure $50 is the best deal anyone is gonna get where I live -- since there aren't really any shows close by, and the only other options are PetSmart, Petco, or getting one shipped from a breeder -- all of which are gonna cost about $80-100.

How about the spiders? What would be a fair price to charge being that I am a first time, unreputable breeder?

    Thanks for the input!!

I am in the same boat you are! I bred my spider to my normal and now I'm wondering what I'm going to be selling the babies for. (And I will also be keeping a female spider if I get one).

Thing is, I don't really know what spiders are going for these days. I know its not much. When I bought my spider male, he was $300. Now, the prices are a lot lower. While at a show I saw a spider male for as low as $150. I might be selling my male spiders for $200 and my females for $250, but we'll see when others post if those are fair prices.

Sorry...I posted this thread in the wrong section. I was viewing in Morphs & Genetics and forgot to go into Breeding before I posted.

I am not a breeder, but $50.00 for a normal I think is too much. Maybe for a female $50.00 would work, but I think males should be between $30.00-$40.00. As far as spiders I see them anywhere between $200.00-$350.00. I'd stick closer to the $200.00 range.

I only have $100 invested in my spider and normal female combined!!

I got my female almost a year ago as a free snake from a girl that was leaving for college. Although she turned out to be more of a rescue. She was dehydrated and extremely underfed -- she only weighed in at 680g at three years of age. She is now around 1600g!

I picked up my spider a year ago for only $100. He was the last of a clutch that the breeder was trying to get rid of. He was the runt (only weighing 98g at 6 months of age) and a bit of a problem feeder. Since I have had him he hasn't missed a meal, is up to 900g, and is now breeding.

I was thinking around the $200-250 range for the spiders as well.

    Good luck!

Like I said I think $50 is kinda high for most areas as well, but where I live $50 is a steal! The cheapest you are gonna pay where I live is $80 at Petco, or $40 plus shipping from a breeder.

I guess I am mainly wondering about the spiders...thanks for the input on that. I think I will probably go somewhere around $200 for males and maybe $250 for females.

    Thanks!

Prices are all over the place and sometimes it's hard to sell.

Don't get discouraged and don't be in a big hurry to sell them all.feed them, handle them...put out a quality animal.Spiders in the $150.00-$250.00 range is about it on what you can get.

    Good luck with your sales.:)

The market is getting saturated with certain morphs right now. You can see it over on KS because the same ads pop up day in and day out:(
For Normals... probably around $20-$25. Spiders I've seen already for $150. But these are the BP's that sell because there very affordable in todays world.

The snakes that are in the thousands are not moving and you will see those prices start falling I'll bet pretty soon.

I SAW A PERFECT MYSTIC POTION GO FOR $2500 SHIPPED YESTERDAY!!!

Here would be my prices for the first half of this year:

    Male normals - free
    Female normals - $25

    Male spiders - $100-$150
    Female spiders - $150-$250

At the show I went to recently ( a really small show though) the least expensive spider was $150 and I think that was only because he was newly hatched (so no meals in him yet) and quite small.

I will sell my normals at $20 for males and $40 for females. In my area the least expensive you'll find a ball python is about $40 at a small pet store for either gender. (not a big chain store) So I figure those are fair price.

For normals, I charge $20 for males and try to charge $40 for females, but normally have to let them go for $20 also. It has been a couple years since I bred balls, but I used to charge $150 for spider males and $250 for females.

    In my area...
Wild type males will go for free to $20
Wild type females will go $20 - $35
Spider male last year sold for $85 this year probably $85 - $100
Spider females are going for $150-$200 locally

If your area has less supply then you might get higher prices, supply and demand controls almost everything including snakes :)
