Scar or genetics?
(Not my photo)
I was looking at this BP someone is selling and noticed the white patch. I've seen some "scars" turn scales completely white, but from this photo it seems so solid and bright I'm unsure. Opinions?
Not a very good picture, obviously, but the person selling it only has a number to call, and quite frankly I do not feel like talking on the phone. So, I figured I'd ask all of you first :P

Re: Scar or genetics?
I've seen some BPs that just have weird random things like that..my first thought was pied but it doesnt have the pattern/colors of a pied so thats not it..then I thought maybe a ringer..but its not in the right spot/doesnt look right..so IDK what it is...get it and you find out for us! LOL ;)

Re: Scar or genetics?
Hi,
Photo resolution isn't good enough to see if the scales in that area are mishapen.
But I can't think of any morphs that look like that either - if it was calico the white would be in the alien heads not between them and if it was a ringer wouldn't it have more colour variation to it?
I do have black pastels that have white coming up the sides like that but it is along the length of the animal and that definately doesn't look like a black pastel.

Yeah, I had thought about each of the morphs you two listed, but none of them fit. He's only $20 (including 100gallon tank, lamp, and UTH.. although all I want is the UTH lol) but it's an hour and a half drive from my house. I'm extremely tempted but skeptical.

Shoot, for that price I'd take it all and resell the tank for more than that on CL. lol.

Haha, that's another reason I am so tempted, but I really don't think I have the space in my little car for a 100gallon tank! Plus, gas is so expensive, an hour and a half drive is painful at the moment :/ Still thinking about it, but at that price, I don't think I have long to think.

Hell, I'd make that 100 gallon fit in my two seater for $20. The resale on that tank would more then cover my gas.

So very true, plus I have another 4ft tank that I modified an acrylic hinged door onto that I'm selling, so there's more money.. I think I'll call the guy, lol

The person selling it says it's not a scar and the tank is actually 45-55g by the dimensions he gave me...he's holding it for me until tomorrow evening, I can't believe I just bought another BP. It's a sickness.. lol

What a great deal:) Congrats! I have a few bps with white marks like that. It makes them very unique.

So did you end up picking up this snake? I am curious to see the white patch....
-
Yeah I picked it up, I couldn't get a good picture of its sides because after a 2hr drive home it was very stressed and struck at me once already. So in about a week I'm gonna get all its stuck shed off and get a better look at its pattern. Could've just been stuck shed though, because the sand it was kept in was very fine, dusty and turned some of its shed bright white.

Re: Scar or genetics?
It's just a random white area. I've got several that have that. Completely random.

I know that now, since I went and picked up the snake lol. Like I said, I'm leaving it alone for a week, so I haven't really looked closely at the pattern.. but it does seem to have some nice white patches coming up from the belly, unlike my other normal. S/he is a cutie for sure :) I'm very happy.
Btw, I looked at your website.. LOVE it. Such a cute story :)

Re: Scar or genetics?
I'm curious, did it turn out to be a white spot or a scar?

Definitely not a scar, but I haven't gotten the greatest look at it yet. I'd love to soak him/her and check out the mystery mark and the rest of the pattern, but this one seems to be ten times more stressed than my other bp was. So, though unfortunate for my curiosity, I'm waiting one week to clean him/her off and check it out :) Sorry!

Lol had I been paying attention and realized there was a second page I wouldn't have posted my question (a reason why I shouldn't be up at 1am I guess :P). Good luck with him/her! :)

Lol, no problem, I had figured you hadn't seen it. And, thank you! I should be posting an update once s/he perks up a bit more, and I'll most likely include an update of my other "rescue's" progress :)

I had a normal male with a similiar white spot! I wouldn't worry about it! Looks like a healthy ball!

I'm not worried about it, s/he is mine now and I can tell in person it is just the pattern. I was just asking because I couldn't tell from the picture, but that was before I went and picked up the snake :) Thanks for the reply!

Just thought I'd share a better picture of the "spot" in question since some have asked and may not have checked out the thread I just posted. Of course, I know now that s/he is in my possession it's just part of his/her pattern. I like it. :) S/he has a LOT of areas along his/her sides where more white than usual normals comes up into the pattern.
A great picture was difficult due to a lack of cooperation
