New Girl, First Snake, Dying for tips and Advice
Hello Everyone! =) I am so excited to be a part of this site and have so many knowledgeable people to ask! I have just got my first Ball Python(Cleo- short for Cleopatra obviously) about 4 days ago. I've done/am doing a lot of research so I know as much as possible. I am very open and basically asking for the best tips you've ever heard or things you do, that a newbie like me wouldn't know. I am also a huge fan of photography so i'll probably always have pictures of my beautiful girl.

1.1 means 1 male 1 female, males are listed to the left of . females to the right

thanks so much! I'm alrealdy addicted, so my big question is.....is it really necessary for me to leave her alone for about a week, because it is alrealdy so hard! To be honest I have been handling her a lot and i've alrealdy fed her and she ate VERY WELL, she has alrealdy pooped, no problems what-so-ever, and she has shown no signs of aggressiveness. So if i did "over-handle" her, what would be the consequences?

Also, a third spot after the decimal means an unsexed animal. So 0.0.1 means one snake of unknown gender

You'll get some different opinions on this one. Some say you can overhandle and some will say there is no such thing. I've handled my python almost everyday since i brought him home.. with the exception of him in his shed phase and i'll let him rest for a day or two after he has eaten. Other then that everyday i bring him out, let him hangout on my neck while i play video games, or let him sit/wander on the coffee table for hours at a time. However i believe taking him out of the tank and putting him back in very frequently and often everyday will cause stress. I've never had any problems with mine though. He has never tried to strike at me, never missed a meal, his last shed was perfect. I think as long as you keep its cage neat and clean, water changed daily, give it the proper care, she should be a wonderful pet :). Anyways that's just my opinion, good luck :gj:

Welcome:) Every snake is different. If she is eating every time that food is offered, I would not worry about holding her too much. If she starts refusing meals than I would give her some more space. Some snakes just love attention:P
