I'm curious, palpate? Why palpate? Is this something you have to do when they ovulate? I'm a newbee and have read everything til I'm cross eyed and never came across anything that said palpate. Please do fill me in. signed: curious newbee

Palpating is basically feeling for developing follicles in the females belly. I palpate a few times during the season. It can also give you a rough idea of how many eggs she'll lay. For example on this female I felt 5 definite follicles. So I should get five eggs.
I'm so excited! Pics to come as soon as she lays

Really? I'm used to palpating bladders on dogs and cats, lol But snakes to find out how many follicles? Wow, ok now is this something you do gently or rather aggressively because I counted around 6 if I'm not mistaken on my normal when she was all bulgy. I know it's late in the season but they are definately in the lock mode, if I wasn't such a dee dee dee and knew how to do the picture thingy I could post some awesome pictures I got of their locks. Thank you for the info. :salute:

So how's the female doing? She still curling and laying upside down, any eggs yet?
