    Only a little bit longer
Sadis is due to lay on the 29th. She's been spending all of her time on the hot side and today I found her laying part way on her side as if she were uncomfortable. I snapped these pics just a moment ago. Seems like she's beginning to move the eggs down a bit.

Not sure if you can see what I'm seeing but it seems like the bulging in her belly is moving south. You can kinda see how her underside is a little distended. I'm crossing my fingers for a little heap of fertile eggs.

How many eggs are you expecting? Did you palpate early on?

I'm expecting about 5. :) I palpated not long before she ovulated.

Thanks. Now her belly is even more distended and is even closer to the tail. She's only got 9 days to go. :)

I'm going to see if I can move the incubator downstairs as I'm getting a 3.5° range on temps in the incubator. It's ranging from 88.5-92.1 during the day. I'm going to see how low it gets tonight. The room the incubator is in has massive temp fluctuations (recorded 81.5-96.3 today during the day) due to a giant window and skylight and the fact the AC doesn't work so well upstairs. Downstairs the temp only ranges between 70-74.

Just caught her doing this. She's due on the 29th, so do you think she'll lay sooner?

I'm curious, palpate? Why palpate? Is this something you have to do when they ovulate? I'm a newbee and have read everything til I'm cross eyed and never came across anything that said palpate. Please do fill me in. signed: curious newbee

Palpating is basically feeling for developing follicles in the females belly. I palpate a few times during the season. It can also give you a rough idea of how many eggs she'll lay. For example on this female I felt 5 definite follicles. So I should get five eggs.

I'm so excited! Pics to come as soon as she lays

Really? I'm used to palpating bladders on dogs and cats, lol But snakes to find out how many follicles? Wow, ok now is this something you do gently or rather aggressively because I counted around 6 if I'm not mistaken on my normal when she was all bulgy. I know it's late in the season but they are definately in the lock mode, if I wasn't such a dee dee dee and knew how to do the picture thingy I could post some awesome pictures I got of their locks. Thank you for the info. :salute:

No eggs as of 5am this morning when I checked her but about half an inch from her cloaca was bulging out this morning. Im putting my money on today or tonight. :-) I wouldn't be surprised if I found eggs when I get home today.

YOUR impatient! Ha! I have a hard time waiting for my toast to be done toasting and I toast at the lowest setting! That is how impatient I am. This girl is going to drive me nuts.

    Wow! It's tough to wait!

We got our 3rd clutch this morning! It was about 2 days after due date... clutch 2 was about 7 days late...clutch 1 was 2-3 days late.

Clutch 2 for us was the weirdest, though. She shed 2 times before laying, after her ovy. She ended up laying 5 days after she shed. Being a newbie, that sure threw me for a loop.

Anyway, Hurry up and wait some more!
