William Snakespeare! Pic heavy!

I picked up my male pastel fire today! He's the sweetest thing and absolutely gorgeous. We aren't 100% sure he's fire until we prove him out next year, but he does have some pretty flames and a nice night head :)

:D I must admit this really made me "Awww", he's so cute!!

He's pretty cute, congrats on the pick up.

So he's a firefly then huh? I can see why you aren't 100% sure, but he is gorgeous. He has got the pattern of a firefly, and really nice yellows with his age....Hopefully he proves out! (you need a picture of his whole body! ;) )

A good friend of mine has one of the most gorgeous fireflies ever, he is BRIGHT! They look similar to supers, but have striping in their pattern.

Ok never mind..

I can tell ya he's probally not got fire in him..his head isn't washed out enough and the adults I've seen are burn your eyes bright..

Like this an adult firfly next to a regular pastel notice how washed out the head is..

yea I mean he's a good looking pastel but the amount of color on the head leads me to think he's not a FireFly..

Yeah we definitely aren't 100% sure he's a firefly, but he showed some signs. Won't really know till he's older lol. I bought him just as a pastel so I don't mind, he's still pretty :)

He is just awesome. I love the pattern and the great color. He is a great addition for you. Now comes the hard part. Leaving him alone for a week to settle in...lol :D

Did the breeder say anything about him being a firefly? Was one of his parents a fire, or are you just thinking he's a firefly?

Either way, if he is 'just' a pastel he's gorgeous! Some fireflies aren't as bright as others, but looking through pictures they do all tend to have a really faded head :(

I got him from a local breeder who I met on this site, Action Reptiles :) He's a GREAT guy and has some gorgeous snakes :)

He didn't say he was a firefly, he said he MIGHT be fire because his momma is a fire, and he isn't 100% sure because he shows SOME markings of a fire but won't know for sure until he grows up more. If he gets lighter he's a firefly and if he browns out, which he really hasn't, then he's "just" a pastel. Either way, I paid for him as a pastel, and I love him dearly :)

IMO the eyes and the head give it away as a pastel, a beautiful pastel at that.

Firefly's have faded heads like super pastels and blueish green eyes, not those beautiful light green eyes pastels possess.

Yeah, either way you picked up a nice looking snake! Hope he does have some Fire in him, that would be a BONUS!! :please:

More than likely he is just a really light pastel male... I had another combo male hatch in the same clutch that show some similar(light coloring with more blushed out head) and both seem to get lighter after each shed. As most pastel's tend to get darker as they age(also other pastel's in clutch are darker). These things had me wondering if there was something else going on(like really low grade fire) but no way to tell until I breed the other male back to his mom(BHB fire) next season... So maybe I'll get lucky and hit a super next year maybe not but at the least if he and other are just pastels they are some of the best I have produced so far... ;)
