Name that morph!
I bought her roughly a year ago, the man before me mistreated her like craaazy! He starved her, very little to no water and all most no heat. The reason for no heat? His rock shorted out and burnt her. I gave him 25 dollars for her so if she turns out to be nothing, it's cool, just thought it might be neat to have something special about her.

Sorry, I don't know how to make the pictures work...
-
Both look like normal reduced patterns.
the belly of the last one doesn't look like it's doing to good.

Re: Name that morph!
Hi,
That belly doesn't look the healthiest I have to agree.
But I'd also like a better shot of her head if possible - and possibly he body pattern from the side.
Just to rule a few things out. :)

She has been to the vet a few times...he gave me some stuff treat it...it's healed a lot.
He didn't think she was a normal. But didn't know what to call her.
She has all the signs of a pastel, except the green eyes.
-
She is definitely a nice looking normal. I don't see pastel in her but she is beautiful, congrats on rescuing her.

Re: Name that morph!
Im confused. The pics you just posted are definitely of a pastel, but thats not the same snake from the first set of pictures....

Ok, I am too, I think I mixed two snakes up, one second, I'll get pictures of the correct snake.

Re: Name that morph!
Ok, sorry about that. http://s1186.photobucket.com/albums/...yV88/Whiskers/
This album is all just the one snake.

She is a lot lighter/yellower than my two normals but she is a lot darker/golden than my pastel.

Re: Name that morph!
Id go with normal. High gold, but not a pastel.

Re: Name that morph!
Hi,
Well I wouldn't get too excited as I suck at this type of thread to an almost preternatural degree.
But I think it looks like a fire?
Am I totally off base?

Not a normal, I could be wrong, but the belly & head suggest it may be a morph.

Re: Name that morph!
The clean belly (except for the burn :( ) I thought was a pretty good tell that it was so sort of morph. I don't REALLY care as I do no intend to breed her because of the burn, just seems like too much stress on an already injured animal.
-
It's hard to say with the belly burn--but I don't think we can tell if she has a clear belly from these pictures. I've seen a lot of dinker snakes that will have clean bellies from their head to midway down the body, and then they'll dirty up a bit. Only way to tell is to prove her out!

P.S. Good on ya for the rescue!

I really don't want to get your hopes up.. BUT:
1) she's super light
2) she has that awesome head fading
She screams "vanilla" from her looks. Don't get too excited as vanillas are close enough in looks to normals that I find it VERY conceivable that it would be possible to hatch out a normal and a vanilla that look identical, but assuming that she is able to fully recover from her injuries, she might be worth breeding down the road. The big roadblock for me suggesting she is anything other than a normal is that it's pretty hard to imagine expensive snakes getting passed on as something other than what they are.
Even if she isn't anything special, she does have that awesome light color. I would love to have a snake like that to selectively breed for nicer base morphs. She could quite possibly kick out some of the best pastels ever produced.
-
I don't know.
It is theoretically possible she's a Vanilla, but I lean heavily towards just a super nice normal.
I've seen so many normals in so many different variations I can't put a finger on exactly why, but to me it just says Exceptional normal.
She does have a bit of head fading, but so do a lot of normals I've seen. My own Vanilla has much more head fading than she does, but I've seen photos of what people claim are Vanillas that are even darker than she is with less fading.
I would wait a full year after she has healed, but if the breeding bug bites you next season, I'd put her to a Pastel, Mojave, Spider, Fire or Cinny male. With any of those morphs, if she is a vanilla, there will be no mistaking it.
Congratulations on your rescue, and I hope she continues to improve for you.

Re: Name that morph!
Probably a normal, but you won't know until you can prove it out by a breeding program and a few offspring.
Good Luck!

Re: Name that morph!
Cool! Thanks for your input guys! I doubt that I will be breeding her though.

I think she looks totally normal, but is going through that weird pigment change normals and spiders are well known for. The bright colors are only in certain areas, not her whole body.
To the OP, there are a few different ideas on why the pigment changes or is lost, but it's fine and she will get her normal color back after some sheds. Some people say the pigment issue is caused by malnutrition, some say hormones, some say gene abnormality, and some say no clue. I wouldn't be surprised if it's caused by malnutrition in your case. I bet she'll get her normal color back with some sheds. Has she had that color change the whole time or did it recently happen? I know some of the bps that have had this change it took them forever to get their color back, some changed all the way to a different color before they started turning back, and other that are still waiting to turn back.

Re: Name that morph!
From the pictures I've seen, she was actually born a little lighter (could be camera flash and stuff like that.) She's always been this color, since I've had her. I breed my own mice (I actually email you about the ASF, thanks for replying so quickly) so I know they are feed/cared for properly. I also coat them in the herp vitamins before feeding time. When I first got her, she was a VERY poor eater, now she'll eat anything I put in front of her. She is always a very messy eater. Like just now, I fed her. She likes to bash them against the ground before eating them. They are pre killed of course.
