New Enclosures + Experimenting W/ Live Plants
My B. smithi was in a kritter keeper, but I got tired of the look and like tubs way more for my T's. So I rode my longboard over to Big Lots for a 6qt tub and also went to Petsmart for a couple live plants, coco husk, and crickets for the T's.

Anyways, I drilled some holes around the tub and designed the tub a little bit to make it look nicer. My B. smithi even ate instantly after offering a cricket. Here's the result of the tub:

Not sure if this is noticeable, but in the photo he's eating a cricket :).

So after looking at some T enclosures with live plants, I decided to experiment with it a little bit. So far I think it looks really good, plus my A. avicularia seems to love the longer plants.. Just tonight he had both crickets I put in his enclosure stuffed on his fangs LOL. I layed the kritter keeper on the shorter side and it worked out pretty well.

I just love how he becomes accustomed to his new enclosures so easily, and eats like a champ. Thanks for looking!

It's all good! Yeah all T's normally spin webs, some might make their entire enclosure a whole web and others might even just make smaller webs. As far as I've noticed, all my T's go right to attacking the prey and just eat it right there. Sometimes they might spin the rest of the remains in a small web.

When T's are spiderlings under 2-3 inches they don't require a water dish since they can drown in it. How they get their water is from doing a light mist a couple times a week. Once T's get about 2-3 inches most will drink out of a bottle cap comfortably.

    Thank you!:)

Yeah I definitely see what you mean. My aunt never comes upstairs in my house anymore just because of my tarantulas . But some people just have fears we all gotta respect which is no prob:).

LOL, well at least being crazy doesn't make me scared to own these awesome arachnids. It is truly a cool experience.

Just wait, I'll have another thread hopefully tomorrow of a new T, and probably another thread next week of two more new T's LOL.:D

Very cool setup that you have for the T. I am sooooooooo afraid of spiders! They are beautiful yet very creepy. I am always afraid of being bitten by a spider.

That is quite cool! Nice job, I have been giving thought to a bioactive enclosure for one of my snakes but just haven't had the time to try yet. Maybe I'll get a T and start on a small scale... ooo but I really hate crix.

Thank you!! Oh I'm a little frightened to get bit too LOL, especially from snakes too! Even though I've already been bitten several times before.

Tarantulas definitely are something a lot of people don't like. Most people seem to be more afraid of T's than snakes. They're really cool critters though, I'm in a total T-addiction right now LOL.

    Thank you:)!!

Yeah T's are way cool, and you can make the enclosure look natural or however you want. If you'd really want a T, try looking into the ones that stay more out in the open rather than burrow/hide away most of the time.

Crix are a little weird, took me a little time to get used to the huge fat ones. I used to freak out when one would crawl up my arm . It just takes a little time getting used to, you also may never even need to touch one. All I do is pick out a cricket with my tongs and feed them to the tarantulas, so no touching involved really.:P
