Scam #2?? LOL
ok, new craigslist scam??? I found this craigslist ad for ball pythons the person said to e-mail for more info so I did and they e-mail me back and they are quoting some CRAZY CRAZY low prices... but anyway the e-mail is super weird (like the previous one I posted before) only this one is from craigslist and not some random website -although I KNOW there are tons of CL scammers- anyway... the email said this:
Hello
Thanks for contacting me in regards to my Captive bred ball pythons,They are Many different Species of this ball pythons available and with different price range.Taking care of Captive bred Ball Pythons is something that I find enjoyable, relaxing, and educational as well as you will do.. It can be a challenge at times, and does teach you patience. One lesson I learned pretty early is that caring for reptiles is very unlike caring for mammals (ie.dogs, cats, hamsters, etc.).They will acclimate, but they will be good feeders and are not into defensive position. My Ball pythons are presently3.2ft and will be about 5 FT when fully grown. They are 08 and The Ball pythons in captivity are fed appropriately-sized mice and rats at the rate of 1-2 every week (I feed them one every 5 days). ***ALWAYS FEED BALL PYTHONS PRE-KILLED FOOD ITEMS!!!*Before i can give any of my ball pythons to any home, i will need you to know more about you,Please give answers to the
questions below:
Questions
1) Where are you located ??
2) Have you any Python care experience?
3) Are you a breeder??
4) How Old are you?

I e-mailed back answering those dumb questions (one word answers obviously) and asking if he is moving from PA to los angeles or what the deal is and how this would work. Trust me I am NOT about to send him any $$ .... unless this is confirmed legit lol and if it is I'm obviously going to buy all of them because they are amazing prices... haha but more than likely this is a scam... fml... will keep updating as he emails me back (if he does). :)
-
crap I posted this in the wrong section idk how to change it.....
-
Their grammar usually sets off flags for me, other than the too good to be true pricing
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Moved it to "General BP's" for you.
DEFinitely scammy. Everything from the weird questions to the too-good-to-be-true prices to the poor grammar for someone who supposedly lives in America to the complete lack of knowledge of the proper terminology, to the weird list of other species.
Ball Pythons do not have separate species as he keeps implying, nor do they come in "breeds." And the other species he lists.... "Flame Snake" And "Rear-Fanged".... ummm, rear-fanged WHAT? Hognose? Boomslang?!?!? ..... :colbert:
-
thanks @JLC for moving the thread... I can't wait for this guy to respond haha I will definitely ask for lots of pictures etc
I didn't even look at the list of other species as I am only interested in BPs but lol you're right what are some of those other ones?!?! LOLOL!!!! I'll ask for a picture of it!!!
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
"Super Duper Pastel Ball Python" .....
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
lol i asked a lot of questions (relevant ones, not help people break into your house ones like this) when i was adopting out the rescues i had but I at least had good grammar and it was only because I questioned the grammar/intelligence of the people that were asking me. This guy is weird though because he fails at writing and the prices are a huge flag but at the same time he appears to care somewhat?
-
Scam.
But this means you are free to toy with him.
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Should ask if he ever thought about any hybrids.
I would love to see a rear fanged super duper flame ball python!
-
I hope you didn't answer ALL of those questions (particularly name & phone number), since those are common "stealing your identity" questions... I've seen the same list in other internet scams, like when I've responded to a low-priced apartment/house for rent. The second I see these particular questions, the red flag goes off in my head. Especially considering some are illegal to ask for housing, like age and marital status - at least they're illegal here in California. Be careful! :colbert:
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Definately a scam. I have received responses identical to this (according to animal) too many times. Ditch it.:)
-
There's a couple that are $156, just seems like an odd price to charge somebody. And LOL at the rear fanged super duper flame ball python.

hahaha no I didn't respond with my name/phone number... these things make me laugh though really... I srsly can't wait for him to respond..!!
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Either a scam or someone who is really just that dumb... either way, I wouldn't go purchasing anything from this guy.

I'm about 3 hours from Philadelphia forward me his info and I'll tell him I want to pick up a piebald. See how that goes. Lol
-
Tell him I'll take all of his Pieds, all of his Caramel Albinos, all of his Pastel Pewters, and all of his Killer Bees.
Find out how many of each he has and tell him I am prepared to pay cash for the snakes. I want individual photographs of each one, weights and ages.
Tell him I live in St. Louis, so he'll pass really close to me on his move and meeting me should be no problem.
I want to see how he responds to being offered $20,000 in cash.
Honestly, does this clown really get anyone to fall for this nonsense ?
Gale

Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Update: this was his response:
We are presently located in Philadelphia PA . And we will be transporting you the pythons from here . So just get back to us with your commands . We do give a discount if you want to take more than one python . So which of them do you want ? and how many do you want ? . And also can we have your phone number so that we can reach you at ?
Thanks and waiting
Jessy and Ryan
obviously I am not going to give him my phone number but I am going to respond asking for pictures of all the animals.... lololol I want to see what he comes up with.... it'd be funny if one of the pictures he uses is a picture of one of bp.net user's animal from their collection hahaaha!!! I'll keep you updated!!!
-
My response
obviously used the phrase "cash in hand" so he would get excited and send me an email back sooner rather than later lolol:
Hi there,
I cannot tell you which ones I want until I see pictures with sex and weight. Please send me pictures of all the animals asap as I am extremely interested in all of them and have cash in hand.
Andrea
PS- can I LOL  at the "get back to us with your commands" hahahahahahahaha
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
tell him your brother is in philly every day ( he works there ) and will be willing to meet with cash in hand. ansd I bet hewill be like can't do that lol since they not in the area
I seen the guy post the same ad in craigslist abouta camera and the 2 areas are like 90 miles apart
-
ya ya I am going to get to a "oh I am from philadelphia and will be home for spring break let's do a local pickup" after he sends me pictures.... especially of the back fanged snake lol
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Oh wow lol this is entertaining

I responded:
Can I please see pictures of the rest of the ball pythons you have and the rear fanged ? I would like their weights as well. Again I have cash in hand ready to buy these so once you send me accurate pictures with sex/weight I will be interested. Thanks
(again obviously I just want to see a picture of this mysterious "REAR FANGED" animal) lololol this is hilarious to me!!!!
-
Him:
OK . i am going to take time tomorrow and snap the rest of the pictures OK
Me:
ok, absolutely, I am wondering if you have any pictures of these animals in their set-up that you have... I would like to see what set-up they are in so I can duplicate it here so they feel more comfortable once they get here.... thank you
________________________________________
lol obviously that was a completely retarded response I just want to make life difficult for him.... and see what he comes up with.
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Yeah, they will keep pushing it until either they get the money, information they want or until they know you have caught on.
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Wow! He SERIOUSLY expects someone to believe he has a panda pied...
-
Him:
a saw dust room
(WTF.... i think he means like a container with shavings.... but his english is so bad!!)
Me:
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "saw dust room" I will need to see pictures please thank you.
-
hahahahahahaha this whole thing makes me LOL

Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Lol! Once I got an offer from the "job" section from a guy who was looking for a house cleaner/maid. He said that his wife was pregnant and that she needed help with house chores like laundry, cleaning, dishes, and such... This is one that I sort of fell for. He made it seem way too good to be true (and it was). High pay, open schedule... He asked for my number, address, if I was married or not, and so forth. Of course, I gave it to him and his reasoning for this was so that he could send me the condo key, he was in Hawaii or something and was moving to SD. He wanted me to have everything ready for them at the condo so that when they came home they didn't have to do anything. Lol! I fell for it but it ended up being BS. Very bad english and tried TOO hard to make it "proper". Can't wait to see what this guy tells you.

Most people probably have no clue that you can't state a preference for race, orientation, or sex when placing a housing ad. That's not something that's taught in school typically so people just assume they can go on out & state a preference. I have heard of CL pulling housing ads for this but its rare.
-
Just on a side note is a Super Duper Pastel a granzeni/jayne line pastel? Although I think this is a scam but the fifth picture down is a Jayne photo of the SDP. Can you say copy write infringement?

Re: Scam #2?? LOL
There were as on cl and ebay that I responded to a few months ago that is very similar to this. It started out that they were ftgh and that he was in pittsburgh and moving to florida. After a couple goofy emails all the sudden he's living in florida already and he wants you to send him money for shipping? After a few emails the prices started changing and so did the number of animals he had. He is fun to mess with though.
-
Oh my gosh this is hilarious. I wish he could get in trouble for fraud somehow. I can't believe he has the panda pied!!!! I might have to make a trip to philly for that one!
Tell him your brother/bf/someone can pick them up from him with cash! I want to hear what he has to say :P
(and the super duper pastel is 'real' Markus Jane produced it-but it's just a really nice super pastel. I'm sure he found it somewhere on google)

HA, I've got a bogus cashiers check for 3500.00 from the same guy around here someplace. Had him going for about 3 weeks.
Another good one is to let them send you the check, then tell them it never arrived or was stolen because you can't leave things on the porch in your neighborhood.
Then they've gone through the hassle of forging the check, sending it to you, getting excited because they think they've found another chump, the the bitter realization that it is they, in fact, who are chumped.
-
This is the best entertainment I've had all week!

Re: Scam #2?? LOL
I'm gonna go with SCAM!!! I really hope that you dont try to do business with this person. I would hate to see you get taken. The way I figure it, if he doesnt even know the basic terminology of ball pythons or the prices, something is wrong. If you are looking to get another ball python I would be glad to give you the name and number of the breeder I get mine from. He is a real nice stand up guy and he will work with you on prices. Goodluck.

Aside from the improper terminology and pricing, he is apparently selling the famous Panda Pied so it can't be a scam! :P I can't get over that one.. Lol love it!
-
well I haven't heard back from the guy ... and @domepiece I am absolutely NOT going to even think about giving this person any money lol not at all. this is purely entertainment and a warning/heads up to everyone out there... If any of you have any suggestions for responses I would be happy to e-mail him... just to keep him going.... and to keep us
-
Tell him you like the panda peid. Better just say the black and white peid one. $250 right?
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
Ya seems to be a scam but SOME of the prices are not that far off from some of the shows they have near the chicago land area. I'm not sure why but the prices are still falling ??? I hope the end is near :(
-
Re: Scam #2?? LOL
I think we should all get his email and ask about the balls he has left and see where it goes :)
-
that could be interesting
