as I get closer to her ovulation I figured I'd just throw up some pics of her building/laying inverted/bowl wrapping and will soon post ovulation pics I hope. I'll use this thread for any other updates as well.

May I ask when do you started pairing them till you notice such behavior? I'm breeding my spider x normal since the beginning of Dec, lots of copulation and locking. I lost track after the 8th lock. Just wonder when can I see change of behavior :please:

I started pairing mine dec 18. the female has been glowing for about 3 weeks and has gone off feed just this past week. once you start to see the signs you know she's headed in the right direction.

another update on lilys progress so far

I believe she is finishing up her ovulation tonight as she has moved to the heat and hasn't left it the past couple of days. her back third of her body is very distended and she is very hard to the touch. one thing I did notice is that when lightly palpated without removing her from the tub she feels very squishy, almost like her stomach is full of liquid.

it was a strange feeling and hopefully someone can chime in if that's a usual ovulation symptom.

another update on my normal female lily.

as I posted in another thread lily ovulated on march 22, 2011.

now she is in the beginning stages of her prelay shed and is taking on the darker more dull shade and her eyes are just starting to go blue.

she should shed in about a week which would put her at 17 days for the pre lay shed and then another 27-30 until eggs! :) :)

my herpstat should be here in five days so that will give me about a month to test run and make sure everything is running smoothly

I don't/won't palpate during ovy or anytime that week around the ovy, just to be safe ;)
When you see that build up coming and know an ovy is coming then it's time to let her do her thing.
After the ovy swell goes down then I feel it's safer to palpate.

Good luck on a getting a bunch of pastels :gj:

update:

lily had a perfect pre lay shed yesterday so I'm expecting eggs around may 8th!!

so excited for my first clutch, I've been documenting the entire process so I'll have a better idea next year. this sure has been an exciting couple of months, can't wait for the next three :)

my excitement is getting too hard to contain lol. this morning I saw her laying in an inverted coil on the hot side and she's a little under two weeks until lay date. I can't wait for my first clutch!!
