Whiteouts on Black
These guys have inspired my to improve my photography. It's so hard to capture their colors with the camera, but I've been learning to do custom white balance and adjustments on the exposure. It's not great, but at least I've gotten off "dummy mode" (full auto).
I really like these two shots, even though the exposure is off and she looks darker here than she does in real life:

The next two are not as exciting, but depict her color more accurately, I think:

Thanks for looking!

Very nice I love the 3rd and 4th pic the best! She's so beautiful I don't think you could take a bad pic of her!

Very nice! :gj: It's like you managed to make the background completely disappear, and that beauty is floating in space.

Re: Whiteouts on Black
Thats cool. Its hard to get pictures on a black background.

Nice shot! It's like she's glowing with those bright colors ;) :gj:

nice shots.
what camera are you using and what did you use to set your white balance? there are few tricks with some of the cameras out there to help get the right exposure.

Amazing pictures! Gorgeous snake.

Stunning snake, and great pictures too :)

I really like the black background! It takes awhile to figure out the manual settings, but you'll get it all figured out! :gj:

Thanks! Actually, she is kind of floating in the first two pics. I reached under the black velvet fabric background and tilted her.

I'm using a Canon 40D. I forgot what I did with the first two shots, but for the last two I did a custom white balance using a white background to set it. I then used the exposure bracketing feature to get a range above and below the auto exposure.
I'd love to learn about any other tricks.

great shots. what kind of camera are you using?

the exposure bracketing is one way to make sure you get the right exposure. that is what i was going to suggest. as for the white balance, it is better to use something that is only 18% white, not all white. they sell custom white blance cards but i use a lid to a tupperware. i have read that the lid to a pringles can works well to.
here is a really good page on white balance: (http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tut...te-balance.htm).
good luck! photography is as addicting as snakes!
