got 2 bps and rack, when I went to get asfs

Ok i know a semi friend for about 3=4 years ( guessing) he helped me out a lot when Iwas first learning to probe snakes and such.. When delaware changed the permit regulations for keeping snakes he decided to get out of ball pythons altogether. He sold most in a large lot. HE called me about a month ago wanted to know if i want the asf colony he had I said sure. well tonight we got together and and I was able to pick up the asfs, while we talked and such I asked him about his blind pastel he had if he sold her too. he said no and had one other ball python that he still had cause needs vet care and possible surgery. we talked and such and I end up coming home with both the snakes, a 3 tub 41 aurt rack the entire asfs colony in a tank. and in a week or 2 to pick up the other rack if istill want it.

The 2 main rules agreed for me to get the snakes 1 the pastel will never be breed and she stays in my collection for life( which is ok with me.)
the cinny prolly got an infection from breeding( piece of aspen or such ) the year before ( the infection site is on the head side of the vent and is about the size of ( one of those bite sized candy bars you get for halloween in the big bags. ) I will make my calles tomorrow about a vet visit for either tuesday or thursday if possible. I am currently got them both in 34 quart tubs ( each their own) and on abit higher heat( with the cinny on a dampen teatowel to keep the area from drying out. ) I will post pictures and such tomorrow with better light They will stay in QT in my bed room until after all my snakes lay eggs ( and the male been vet checked.healed up if needs surgery)

poor male prolly thinks being steamed lol as humid as the tub is looking already ( room temp is about 75 the only piece of heat tape I got is a 11 wide 2ft long strip but I got it on johnson control and set to come on about 92 and off at 95

well i got a wensday afternoon walk in appointment for the cinny. now i am debating on what to do with the rack sine i not sure it will fit into the reptil room with out come help and eben possible removal of another cage..
shame can't sell it to cover vet cost (cause I got to hope they take payments on a monthly deal)

That growth on that snake is similar to what my Mojave had from an infection after a prolapsed hemipene. Although, I have to say that it looks worse than what I had to deal with. I had my boy operated on and he is doing great now - that was back in January.

I wouldn't delay treatment - mine turned out to be abcesses growing into a large mass.

well wensday evening is the closest I can can get since they got short hours during the day ( like 10 to 12 ) but it is all walk in appointments. I betting there a lot of puss in it to drain out ( shame I don't have equipment to do it at home I dealt with spider bites ( needing to be popped and drained on little kids all the time ( niece and nephew ) and they like my way better than doctors it hurts less when I do it lol) I learned so many tricks patching myself up I could fix snakes too if i could give them sleepy until i was done lol)

well an update of kinds the vets thinks that it a mass and not a prolapse ( but saddly i think he long one hemipenis ( unless he got some matter stuck in the compressed vent) ) so I am currently trying hemorrhoid wipes to see if the mass reduces any ( swelling) and got to call back monday ( or sooner if the mass enalarges or gets really bad looking ( worst than it is) I guess. they didn't charge me anything cause I do a lot of the rescues for snakes and bring them in as needed ( just sucked waiting till today to make sure I had funds in case I need them ( just hope surgery not needed cause I know it be more than the little over 50 bucks I got left after paying bills and getting supplies this month. ( wish for odd jobs to help put money up now )

update and question
well I called the vet office and am waiting for the vet to call back. I was looking at the area in question and I seen oozing a little ( watery semi blood more like the clear part of blood) well I wiped dry and part of the scab( guessing from wiping te wipes on the butt) came free and a small amount of caulking like puss. I took to the sink and gently squeezed and about a quarter of a teaspoon worth ccame out.. I since rinsed clean and patter dry while waiting for the vet to call back I am hoping this is a very good sign and that i can get the vet to give me some antibotics to help speed up recovery.
( sadly I guessing about the size of a computer ccase screw hole is now there but I hopping it will all clear up as he heals.

question

IS the puss so post to be that thick ( like caulk ) or dhould it be thinner ?? I hoping that it will really start to go down now.. and if i need to have it lanced it be nice and simple to cut drain and go from there( then all left if to find the cause and fix that issue)

Sounds like what you would find inside a cyst that has been around for a long time. Puss from an abscess would be runny like snot and either yellow or greenish brown. It would also be really smelly. (At least this is what it would look like on a mammal. I am assuming the descriptive nature of these things would not vary too much species to species)

ok I got a very pissed snake lol

they cut the lump out since it was oozing puss this week. so now I need to give .2mlof baytril for 10 days then. then go back but the vet moreless said that if the mass comes back or if he does not healt up good will prolly be put to sleep cause his quality of life will never be great since it was his vent area.

vet also said the mass was tumor based.

Call the vet that performed the surgery. It's probably after hours but the machine might have an emergency number to call.

well the stiches I see look fine, I think what happen was he strained a little and pooped out the clot too causing it to bleed a littl, I have not had any issues since then, but the tail is swelled a little so I guessing he sore and gone to rest in the hide ( I lucky can lift tub and check no more bloody messes). I gently touch hime about every hour to make sure alive ( and will stay up most the night to do so) I figure if makes it though the night will be a great sign. I just need extra hands to give shots starting tomorrow. I will aslo apply non pain neo if there no more discharges.

I guess having a lump/tumor/ blockage may feel god and bad at the same time once he healed up and such I have a new residsent to my collection. sadly looking like they took the mass and a spur( entire thing) out cause the mass was grown all over it. so he going gonig ot be called cash ( as in Johnny cash song ring of fire ( cause I bet his vent felt like it ) with a nickname of puss butt cause all the puss and such that was removed this past week.

then my next task will be to get him to eat and stay eating.

I just hope nothing else goes wrong this spring betwee ntheheater, this snake and other minor issues I so broke I killed my wow, my netflick, and even most my future plans for this summer cause it going to take me months to caught back up. ( hopefully no new rescues show up) I make have room, food and everythign but no funds for vets, and I still got to figure out how to cover th next visit in about 12 days for the check up.

If the bleeding has stopped then I wouldn't worry as much but if he keeps bleeding like that all night I would start calling any vets in the area you can get ahold of late at night.

Oh man that was horrible. I'm glad you took him to the vet. Wowzer! I've never seen anything so owie! I thought reptile puss would be liquidy as well when I took in a Leo rescue with an enormous abcess. But it's actually cheesy like. That's how I describe it anyways. I hope your new addition is going to heal up good. They generally bounce back quickly after they've received treatment. Good luck with him and I'm happy he found someone that cares. How anyone could sit around and watch that grow is just disgusting!

yeah the guy I known for a while he been so busy he lucky to have time to fart let alone take more time to care for the snakes, actually his daughter was taking care of them and she never got to say anything to him to get it treated. ( we all know how some kids get with being either boy or girl crazy)but he told me that the snake needed a vet befoer hand and I was ok, and I took him I got more time on hands than I know what to do with most the time ( just wish I had the money to back it up)

anyhow the snake doing good just having a hard time with the giving of shots ( never been comfortable with/around needles)

so far he done good I offering food ( small prey item) but not taken anything yet( figure might not eat for me until all healed up and shots are done with)

WOW Ive never seen anything like that and hope I never do again!! poor snake :( Im glad he is getting better I hope your money situation improves too! your doing a great job with helping these snakes

ok I figure I update all on the cinny. It been a week after surgery and about 7 days worth of the shots ( baytril ) to prevent an infection. so after giving him the shot today I grab a pic ( took 2 but the flash ruined the 1st one)

if i not missed any there only 3 stiches holding the but area together and looks really good to me( first surgery on a snake I cared for )

well the vet didn't say I could not offer food, but i was smart I guess and only offered a rat crawler to the cinny this morning. and after watching it a few mintues he nailed it so hard I thought he ripped a stitch out lol.. but ater the meal and will be left alone until I go to the vet monday for check up. Just hope that he don't blow a mess on the vet lol.

well the cinny shed last night and seems to be in good spirits I bet would eat if i let him but I have another vet checkup for him this evening so I won't feed him till I get home i guesing

the blind pastel has taken to eating like a pig she always ready and willing to eat now.

ok final pic of the cinny butt , the vet says looks great and will heal up fine now the pic was dark and I had to edit it to bring it more visible ( now stays packed with 3x antibotic) and on paper towels
