New chondro clutch photos
Had 13 hatch and 1 full-term red dead in the egg. These are half-siblings to the clutch I posted a month or so ago and the first thing we noticed was how light the yellow hatchlings are. It's a pretty major change from the others we've hatched out, and the picture below with just two yellow snakes in shows the difference between this clutch and the last with regards to the yellows' patterns and overall color. It's pretty intense!

Comparison - the one with the darker pattern was typical of the previous clutch, and all of the yellow ones from this clutch have the lighter pattern

Pretty much... we stick a perch in the hatch bin and collect them off of it when they come out. It's all instinct at that age - usually within the first couple of nights they'll start using their tail to try to lure in prey too.

So adorable!! :D I was wondering about that too. It's amazing what instinct can do.

The reds turn the same colors as every other chondro out there, but in past clutches we've produced what are called "mite phase" ones (green but with some black scales thrown in here and there) from the super dark red ones.
We've had them start turning at 3 months but for certain localities it can take up to a couple of years to completely change over.

Gorgeous babies! I love the first pic where they are all bunched together!
