Over due??
I have a female who I am 99% sure is gravid. Pretty sure I saw the tail end of an ovulation and a shed shortly after. All temps are correct (91 in hot end) and she is hugging the hot spot (rarely moves out of the hot end) and laying in a perfect coil. its been 34 days since she shed and still no sign of any eggs.
Has anyone ever had a female go this long before laying as I thought it usually took around 27-30 days.
Any input would be appreciated

Yep lots of people have had late eggs. Last year my girl laid on day 53.

Re: Over due??
Cool was getting a little worried. are there any tell tail signs to know when she is ready to lay?
-
When she starts laying inverted & contorted looking, moving the eggs down, like the pic

I can only speak from my experience, I had 3 others lay last season who really didn't display much this type behavior, and another of my girls did display but didn't lay.
Did you palpate recently, could she be still building, and not ovulated yet? I have noticed that when they are close to laying, they are miserably uncomfortable, much like any pregnant woman.

Mine lay belly up and twisted funny all the time in the last few weeks before laying.
Nothing is set in stone. They lay when they are ready.

Re: Over due??
like i said i am pretty sure i saw the end of her ovulation and with her shed and staying in the warm end makes me think she was ovulating as her behavour has changed.
Is it still ok to palpate if she could lay anytime? if so i can do it tomorrow. will they feel any different or in a different position?
-
Yes, they will not be like ping pong balls, they will be soft like marsh-mellows

will i still be able to feel them if they are that soft? and i take it i can still do it?

You may not to be able to, especially if you no experience with a post ovy female. Just palpate if you feel nothing, chances are she did ovulate, then just sit back, be patient, and try not to bite your nails while waiting :)

Re: Over due??
i did feel them before her possible ovulation. i'll try tomorrow and see. can't wait, it was hard enough waiting 30days lol ... cheers for the help guys

Re: Over due??
Day 43 and still no eggs, can't feel any folicles but can feel some 'squishy lumps'. she has missed 3 feeds now and has stopped laying in a perfect coil and is now laying quite zig zagged (only way to describe it)
-
I would say give it another 10-15 days before stressing.

Sounds gravid for sure! Congrats! I wouldn't even offer her food at this point...That would likely just add to the stress. As said...Give her a little more time before freaking out. : )

Re: Over due??
well after 2 days of staying out of her hide and moving around her tub she has gone back under her hide. she's all coiled up so fingers crossed i'll have some eggs any day now :D
