    New Girl Eats!!
For those who follow me! She eats! (Yes i know i only just got her but being a baby and off feed for 8 days and in my care for 48 hours i gave it a shot). Well success... Here are the results these pics show her colors 100% better for those who saw these.

Don't hate one the terrible photos lol i did not want to get all up in her business while she ate her first meal but, now shes slapping her tongue around the enclosure looking for more.

Was kind of pissed when i went and bought my F/T mice today though. Wanted small hoppers or large fuzzies cause shes a big girl... He only had like pinkies. They are tiny... she put it down in less than 2-3 mins.

    So question to you all?!
Feed another small pinky in 3-4 days?

    Cheers :O Ambien out.

p.s. she still needs a name :colbert:

38 views and no response . That's depressing lol? Well question still un answered. But based on her girth and the fact she ate for me the first time i feel like Thursday i will feed her again seeing how these pinkys seem to be a snack to her =/

I'm going to check back this weekend and see if he has anything bigger, that's frozen. Also i am going to weight her and measure her girth when i take her out to feed on i think Thursday night. Just so i can get an idea of what she should be eating. Not just listening to some one behind a counter who wants to make a sale and not kill or freeze me some mice.

I would feed as much as she would take of those pinkies.

I'm sorry that I can't really give you any good answers to your questions, but I can say that your snake is absolutely stunning!

Though there IS one problem. Why aren't there more pictures?

Feed her the first pink then after she has finished it and starts flicking her tongue give her another and maybe a third. :gj:

After looking at that first pick again.... I would probably try to give her at least four.

That snake should be able to take at LEAST hopper mice. I'd be surprised if it couldn't take an adult mouse, just not HUGE ones. I feed all my brand new baby bps adult mice as soon as they come home.

Nice looking snake by the way, is she a pastel?

Don't you want to wait at least a week before you feed a new animal to reduce stress? That's what I learned with corns, are balls much different?

Should of made this more clear :D! When i say asap, i do take in to consideration that she is a new snake. I picked her up this past Saturday and she has been out of her cage once! to see if i could get her to feed because she had been off feed for at least 8 days. Which is considerably a lot for a young snake. As i only fed her pinkies i decided i will feed her again in 3-4 days but i think i am waiting a little longer than that. Plan is this Friday i will see how many she wants to take from me. There is no RULES or BOOK to follow, whats posted on these forums are advice, and as every knowledgeable person on this sight informs me Ever snake is different. Not all rules apply.

Thankfully i started setting up my snakes enclosure WEEKS before i even got her. Within two days she was all about the enclosure with flicking tongue and being very adventurous. Which told me she is quite comfortable in her enclosure. Like i said before knowing when i picked her up she was suppose to be fed i said HEY! why not lets see if she will eat for me! Sure enough with out hesitation she ate, and seemed to want more! Other than that one feeding she has not been out of her enclosure. She has also already defecated in the enclosure which means shes out and about an comfortable in her surroundings.

So yeah their are some guidelines but again every snake is different.
Ones i strongly believe in though is...
    1) Do not handle or hold your snake after it has eaten (I'm going to give my girl 2 days... just because she is new to the enclosure)
    2) Provide Heat gradients.
    3) Provide hot and cold hides
    4) One i heard from some one and makes a lot of sense... To have a nice ball python enclosure it should be hard to find your snake as they would rather feel that they are watching you rather then you watching them.

There are a lot of little things and a lot of big things but because i feel i followed the husbandry needs early and got everything figured out and my breeder does such a great job i have been having no problems! She eats F/T like its her job and she loves her hides now so In most cases yeah don't feed your snake on the second day... and yes do not handle your snake for hours on end when you first get her (IMO ever really, the most i will handle my girl is anywhere from 30-45 which will begin this Sunday).

This post is crazy and i am in my chemistry library so i need to get some work done :gj:

You are so lucky she ate for you! I've had my girl for a month and she won't eat. She is 9 months old so not panicking but it's not fun one bit. Can't handle or anything until she eats. UGH!

Your are correct sir i am very lucky! I am so glad that everything is going so smooth *Knock on wood*. I prepare for the worst so if anything happens i will not be caught off guard. I'm also thankful that my local breeder switches his hatch lings from live to F/T as fast as he can. Makes my life easy =). Also gave me the good tip of "Braining" my mice to induce a better feeding response. I came home today and shes laying across her basking area so i am guessing shes gonna help aid that digestion of the tiny pinkie she ate lol.

Also picking up a scale from a friend tonight and debating if i want to weigh her tonight or not. But the fact she ate and stayed in her cold hide for a WHILE i rather not pick her up off her basking spot as she might be trying to aid in digestion. So i will get an official weight on her probably on Friday when i am going to attempt to feed her again. *Knock on wood* hopefully she will be as hungry as before! But i always mentally prepare myself for her not to feed hence when she strikes and eats my heart races :D

Sorry for the crap post, doing an analysis using IR and NMR spectroscopy on an unknown compound (which i found was Isopropyl acetate!) lol aka i'm taking a short break :O

So my morning class got canceled and Lilly! yup that her name now. Seems to be WIDE awake roaming her cage like a crazy little girl! So i shot a really crappy HD video with my droid X for those who want to see her roam around a little =P

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtpmw6gh19Y

Hmmm so i grabbed the video off of my phone to upload and only allowed for 240p so this video is really bad! lol

Going to feed her this Friday defrost about like three too four pinkies.

As you can see in the video she is roughly the length of the enclosure and the enclosure is about 18 inches. I feel she is a little larger than the enclosure so in the ball park range of about 19 inches give or take a 1/2.

She eats again, and more photos.
Okay so here are some more photos of my girl! you can see how ridiculously yellow she is i love it. Just imagine her 2x better than these photos she makes my jaw drop every time i take her out from that infrared bulb that makes her look brown lol.

p.s. not too many photos she still new so! don't want stress her to much. She just devoured 3 pinkies.

p.s.s. that first pinkie she had to spit it out and find the head lol. She struck it awesome wrapped it up then she noticed that its kinda hard to swallow sideways! Second and third went down with like a blink of the eye...

Second strike sounded like a wip cracking i heard her body cut the air. Was quite the experience.
