Is this poop or regurge? (gross picture inside)
My baby boa regurged a few weeks ago and I waited 12 days to feed her again. She has since eaten two small meals (4-5 days apart). I might just be paranoid now, but does this look like poop to you? My other snake is much larger and makes giant brown ones- this is a very light color but has no bones or distinguishable mouse parts inside other than hair. Her previous regurge was obviously a mouse and came 1-2 days after feeding. It has been about two weeks since she last pooped and this new pile of mystery arrived 4-5 days after her last feeding, so I am unsure. It was wet on the newspaper around the pile but no white urinate. Thoughts?

I can't seem to get a great picture of it... could regurge occur 5 days after feeding a small meal and be that digested?

Put the paper towel with it on a table not in your hand.If your heat is not correct yes because the snake is unable to digest it properly

The further distance photos have less detail and look like plain old poop. Its very gumlike, almost like toothpaste consistency with hair in it. It seems different than poop but this is a new snake so I don't know.

You WILL know if it is regurge. You would have smelt it before you saw it...

Can't think of a worst smell off the top of my head than a regurgitated rat.

It's pretty odd looking poop but poop nonetheless. If it was regurge 1) you'd know by the smell and 2) it would more than likely contain much more than just hair.

Usually the poop will consist of the hair because its the toughest part to break down and is of no use to the animal, so it's not abnormal to get hairy poo. (Never thought I'd say that before LOL). Heck, once I got a poop from a BP that actually had perfect whiskers on either side :P

Thanks for the replies. The reason I was/am on the fence about it is because it was the same color/consistency as her regurge last time. The only difference is that this is 5 days after a feed instead of 1-2, and there were no bones, just mush and hair. Her regurge before didn't smell that bad to me, cuz its so small, so IDK :(

The other may have been poo as well. This one def. looks like poo to me. As far as the smell.....there is NO mistaking it. It will take over an entire room in 2.2 seconds and again there is NO MISTAKING the smell. After you get rid of a regurge and you clean everything...the smell will still linger on. Its literally the nastiest thing ever.

Agreed!!! You would know immediately. It's second only to rotting human flesh, which i haven't been lucky enough to experience.

Pick it apart. If there are bones inside and bits of a recognizable skeleton, then it's regurge. If it's only hair, it's poo.

EDIT: whoops, saw the 2nd page of replies. Yeah, just hair = poop.

Awesome- I feel better about it now, thanks for all the replies everyone. The highlight of my week was sifting through snake poop and taking photos of it to share on the internet :P

If it was a regurg, there is no way your nose would be able to stand sifting through it!

Sometimes they just poop out big globs of hair. Its normal. I am willing to bet that the first "regurg" was also just poop.

You would be able to tell if it was a regurg. The smell, what it looks like. Its unmistakable once you see/smell it.

Generally, regurgitation happens 1-2 days after feeding. After that, the food is no longer in the stomach and can't really be regurgitated..
