    Wow....check out these customized cages...
I was searching around the internet for cage ideas for the new yellow tree monitor. I happen to stumble upon this! WOW just blown away...they are so amazing!

Think we are going to try to build something similar to these for my new baby. As there is NO WAY I could afford to buy something like this.

I just wanted to share the site with you as I thought they were amazing! Check out the extra photos of the different things he's done.

Here is another website with some sweet custom cages. I wouldn't mind getting one of the coffee table cages for one of my boas...

They always have the nice cages with huge prices. lol I would love to build something of the sort though but materials themselves are not cheap nowadays either.

Well let's see. If you don't go shopping for a month, forget about the next remodeling/redecorating project and stop drinking 30-40 bottles of wine each weekend with your friends, I think you'd have enough money for maybe 2 cages.;)

Talk to a few cabinet makers, I'd be very concerned about the humidity level and the effects on that beautiful wood these cages are made from. Also, I would not use plexiglass. It scratches too easily and usually these scratches are never coming out.

I know they are expensive, but they are for a reason. There's a lot of work to building something this large.

    Tell the hubby, good luck!

Jim....IT was only 2 or 3 lol!!!!! lol But you might be right on my spending issues....lol... At least my husband would buy you a beer and agree.

Yea it does take a lot to build nice cages out. With our last one...it took me almost 2 weeks just to stain, sand....stain...sand..etc.. and then poly it 3 times. The color itself took several different mixes to get it right. We are not even talking about the price it cost to get the right tools...egads! Routers bits are crazy expensive

I was talking to the hubby in regards to this and I was saying I did not want the water feature. However he has a plan apparently to be able to include the water but a little differently. I don't think you could use plexi as it scratches and then after a while it will dull and look icky. Plus believe it or not ....glass is a little cheaper!

Pat - she is a tree monitor so not too too big...strong though. I think if we do our glass thick enough and tempered we should be fine. Thoughts??

Hubby is putting a new tranny in our SUV and a super crazy altenator to run his 8432 different mods in the truck. sooooooooooooooooooo....I have to wait until the following weekend to start the project. geez He said that we will take pics of every step of the way and post a how to. ??

I've seen a lot of glass in BIG monitor enclosures before, including a big 18 year old Ornate monitor... He never mentioned the glass ever breaking! I wouldn't do glass on all three sides though! Zoos do it as well, so I assume there is a trick to making it strong enough :) like using thicker glass or something

Yea glass will be on the front and 1 side...the other side will be a door to get into the cage.
