    Updated hatchling photos
I took out two tonight to get some updated "glam shots" of the hatchlings. The red is our brightest one out of the recent hatch, and the yellow one has the best pattern out of any of ours. I love the solid line across the nose :)

We got a bunch of really dark red ones too that I want to try to get pictures of later this week...they're pretty cool!

do they normally stay that red?

For awhile, yes, but they'll switch over to green just like the rest of them as they age. We've had some start changing as early as 3 months but normally it's 9 months to a year when they really show significant changes.

Thanks guys! My goal over the next week or so is to try to get decent photos of all of them up here to show the variety we got. Even among the more 'boring' yellow ones there's some huge differences with pattern that's pretty cool if you give it a chance. :)

Can't wait until one of these is added to my collection. They look amazing as neonates, and become absolutely stunning as adults.

I'll be getting some photos of yours up later this week hopefully. I've got a pretty busy schedule, so it might be Friday night by the time it happens. I'm actually doing a reptile program for the local Sierra Club chapter on Thursday night so some of our older GTPs will be making another public appearance.

On another note, the one you're taking is a beast.... he hasn't skipped a meal yet, ate on his first try, and tries to take my fingers off when I mist him down :)

So is it sad I am excited to have a snake like that in my collection some day?

absolutely not! It's part of the challenge that this species presents, and it's what makes a chondro a chondro!

yeah that is true, that and their beautiful faces!! Seriously love them all

I mean the worst thing that will happen is I will get to go into class or work and be like my snake bit me.. to which I will get the reply of.. wear an extra glove with that teeth cleaning or dont bleed in the coffee :P

I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Sounds like it's going to be miles away from taking care of ball pythons.

I feel like it may be odd how cute I find baby chondros to be. Did you get snacked on during the photo session?

I didn't, but the yellow one would strike and then hold his mouth open for a few seconds and I really wanted a picture of that. Maybe another time though!

BTW I got your email - some of the hatchlings have taken meals, but yours hasn't yet. It strikes like crazy but hasn't coiled much. It kinda just likes to grab it and throw it to the other side of the bin right now. We'll get there though! :)
