Please help!!!
I have had my ball python for around 5 years and everything has gone smoothly until today. She seems to have two strange sponge like sores on her side maybe both 3/4 an inch long. Also her belly 1/4 of the way towards her head has turned almost a lime green while the skin her back, above the lime green portion, of her belly has a dark red tint. She is mid shedding and ate around a week ago. If any one thinks they know a solution that would be great. I have absolutely no money so a vet visit isn't likely. Perhaps we should think about universal pet health care... I will get pictures up soon but must sleep now because class is in the morning.

I really don't have any money and my parents won't loan me the money because they wouldn't see it as an importance. I am definitely going to call one tomorrow to try and get some free advice... maybe. It is just sad to watch something you care for suffer.

Is there a heat rock in her enclosure? It looks to be a burn

I think you need to get someone to take a look at it. i'm sure if you call and explain your situation, you may be able to get some help. And maybe its just me but it looks like those aren't its only problems, the skin looks really wrinkly and almost loose throughout the body in the first shot. dehydration as well?

dehydration looks very apparent. how the humidity in the tank? regardless this snake needs a vet asap and I'd really try and see if someone you know can loan you some cash. talk with the vet and explain your situation and he/she may be able to cut you a deal like cost for antibiotics only and no visit fee, just call.

Seein a vet is indeed a must on this case. Base on the pictures, it seems that the sores came from an underlying issue (possible dysecdysis and dehydration and maybe something else). And Im sorry to say, but the underlying issue may have developed from your husbandry practices that needs to be corrected asap. If you cant take it to a vet, have someone who's willin to or at least have someone w/ better experience and knowledge on snakes look on your lil fella. Good luck

Re: Please help!!!
Have you been able to take this gut to the vet? Hopefully you have and are the path to treating your snake.
If not, you need to soak him/her in tepid water. After a few minutes of soaking in plain water, add betadine to the water (mix in enough until it looks to be the color of dark tea). Soaking in plain water first will allow it to drink if it wants to with out consuming the betadine. This will help clean the wounds and get the stuck shed off. Dry it off well, try to remove as much shed as possible and put some Neosporin (with out pain reliever in it) on to the wounds. Clean the tank well and only use paper towels for substrate. Remove any decorations to prevent the snake rubbing the wounds on anything. Make sure you use a few hides that are plastic on the warm end and cool end (easy to disinfect). Keep the tank warm, the substrate dry and clean, and your temps and humidity stable.
You also need to figure out what caused this and fix the problem ASAP. Like others said, do you have a heat rock or heat lamp where the snake can climb on it? Or an under tank heater with out a thermostat or rheostat?

Looks like part burn....part scale rot as well as some dehydration. He really needs to see a vet. As others have stated call the vets in your bad area and talk to them. Maybe offer to clean or whatever you have to do to make it happen. I feel bad to say this but your snake is in very bad shape not to make you feel worse but this doesn't look like something that happened over night. You should have reacted much more quickly. With any reptiles by the time that they are showing signs of problems....it is typically a big issue!!
Please update us on the snake when you can. And please don't think of me being harsh.....just trying to help you in the future.

Where do you live? Maybe you're close to one of us and we can look.

Re: Please help!!!
Thanks for all the help. I called the vet and explained my situation. He suggested I give her a bath and put antibiotic cream on her wounds. Its day two of the treatment and she seems to be at least acting like she feels better. I didn't think the cage was that dirty but I do take the blame. All I can do now is help her keep up the fight. Thanks again.

really looks like a bad burn. the snake really does need to see a reptile vet not in a horrible way to you but if you cant afford the vet bills maybe you should give the snake to some1 who can cause its not fair on the snake . or ask a vet if you can set up a payment wer you pay so much a month or something cause the snake really looks dehydrated and needs fluid injections they dont cost that much . good luck and keep us updated
