weighing and scales

What kind of scales do you guys recommend? I'd rather not spend much money on a scale, but eh...

Then you're out of luck. Scales that weigh over 400 grams aren't going to be cheap. I paid $25 for mine that weighs up to 5000 grams, but it eats batteries like their is no tomorrow. My aunt gave me hers, but it only weighs up to 2000 grams so I still have to use my old one for the big ones. You can get non digital ones for $5 at Walmart, but they only weigh up to 400 grams if I remember right.

The one from my aunt that I really like is Weigh of Life, not sure what my big one is, it's from Walmart though.

I Found one at walmart for $19.95+tax, digital food scale 5000g max

Go on to Amazon.com and search for postal scales. You can find one for 4-50$

paid 50 for mine and it weighs up to 7000 grams. Has a nice bowl and the led display is backlit, has a few options, works great!

The EatSmart Precision Pro food scale on Amazon is $27 with free shipping. It weighs up to 5000 g in 1g increments. I have calibration weights from work that I've used to check it and it's within a gram at 1000 grams, that should be plenty accurate for snake weighing. It shuts off 3 min after use to preserve battery power. I've been quite satisfied with it since I've had it.

I'd like a better one but use this one for now and it does fine.
The only thing it's missing that I want is a hold feature.
For 20 bucks it does the trick.

Whatever scale you get, especially cheaper ones, you want to check it to make sure it's accurate. The cheapest method to check your scale accuracy is to get a couple rolls of nickels (either from the bank or self filled). A nickel as minted is 5.0g x 40 = 200g

A few of those rolls should give you a decent idea of how accurate your scale is.

same as I use it sounds like. just get this one and grab a popcorn bowl to set the snake in and zero it out and your set.

It was in the cooking stuff isle but not near the other scales, we spent about 20 mins on the isle looking at scales and stumbled on it:confused:

I just bought the same one at wal-Mart last night and I really like it and with a 5000g max it should be all I need. Thanks for the help guys!
