WWII Spitfire Test Flight Photos (serious DUW)
I'm not really sure how many people are interested in this, but I'll share anyway.
When I'm not cleaning up reptile poo I volunteer at a WWII museum near my house. Then plane I spend most of my time on is a mk.14 Spitfire. It flew for the first time last August after a 7 year restoration, then the brakes went out.
So here it is, after fixing the issues with the pneumatic system, flying last saturday. I was in the chase plane (a two seater P-51 :P ) taking photos.

Buzzing the museum. You can see the main hangers and the wing of the P-51.

I hope everyone enjoyed the photos, and if you're in the LA area come down to the museum on a Saturday to see the planes in person!

Very cool! I love planes! The WWII era are the most beautiful in my opinion and the fighters are just down right sexy.

Very cool! I saw them fly last Sept. too for the airshows out there. As a bonus, I got to climb all over that Lancaster. :P

Very good! Part of the flight took us over Santa Paula, but the planes are based at the CAF museum in Camarillo. Come over and visit sometime!

That's seriously wicked cool! I'm so jealous you got to fly in a P-51!! My hubby isn't exactly enthusiastic when I point out BP.net threads...but he'll love this one!! :D

@JLC That's really funny actually! I hope he enjoys the photos.
Forgot to add the P-51 is Man O' War, if anyone's familiar with the plane.
Me gettin in for my ride. The sell rides in the P-51's too, for a measly $1100 a half hour.

That's absolutely great! You're quite lucky to be able to do things like that. I'm not big on planes but my father is, and I showed him the pictures (of course he was in the process of fixing a model plane while i showed him) and he's absolutely thrilled that people are still interested in this sort of stuff.
