would love some "senior" pics, please :) pull out the older ones...
of the snake kind, that is LOL

Seriously though, does anyone have snakes that are 7 years plus ? 10 years+ or even older ?

Please post pics of your "seniors". I know that is still young for a BP, but you hardly ever see pics of the older ones, because they are either normals, or their coloration has browed out or faded or etc.

Please post them incl. their age and weight, whether they are "retired" from breeding or not, whether they are just "pets" now or anything else you want to share about them :)

In advance, thank you very much !!!

This is my old man, Turk:

    http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...%2010/turk.jpg

    http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x...k-july09-8.jpg

I can't tell you how old he is or how much he weighs, but he's SO big for a male, that I would not be the least bit surprised if he's over 10 years old. My scale only goes up to 2500g and he gets the "error" message if he just dips his tail on it. LOL

He's never been bred that I'm aware of. He's a pet. He was a rescue taken in by NERD years ago and was already an adult with many scars. Some of the scars are obviously keeper-neglect...and some look like old scars from nature, so he may have been a wild-caught import. When we had a table at the Daytona show, Kara gave us Turk to be our BP.net "spokes-snake". He lived with Nate for awhile after the show and then has been with me for the last 2-3 years. Super laid-back and a real pleasure to handle....an excellent ambassador for the snake world! :D

This girl is 8 years old and my first BP. I purchased her back in late April of 2003. She's never hit 2500 grams but her head is rather large compared to my other adults.

Here is a photo of my 2002 albino female. She was a very poor feeder and didn't breed until she was 6 years old; however, once she produced eggs (2 her first year) she became a strong feeder and has now produced clutches 3 years in a row.

Very pretty !! Thank you so much.

Well, so far I've taken away a couple of things. "Normals" almost seem to be getting prettier with age ? Perhaps all the ones posted are just really beautiful ones !!
It makes me feel really good seeing those "oldies". I hope to keep my BP's until old age (mine and theirs, hehe) and its really nice to see that others feel the same way.
It just seems to add another dimension in the keeping of those wonderful snakes. Not just how pretty and cool they are. Or what crazy morph they are. Or the whole excitement of breeding them.
But also the satisfaction of having a "old friend" still up and around :)

Thanks everyone, really appreciate it :)

Very pretty . And interesting story, too. Seems to be that nature takes care of certain things. Once her body got ready for breeding, she started to take in what was needed to keep going.
    Good girl :)

Awesome pictures!! The oldest snake i've ever owned is 6 years old, so not too bad. Things don't change much with age it seems.

Here's mine. he is around 19 years old. I just posted him up yesterday in a different thread, but he belongs here too :) He is probably around 2500 grams, and he bred for me last year. Won't breed again, that was a one time shot hahaha My mom bought him originally and when she died, I took him in. He has since gained weight and length as she was only feeding him a couple times a year. He's fat and happy here and doing awesome. I know he has a lot of years ahead of him still :D

You're welcome. I love telling it, esp since the 2 year anniversary of her death is coming up. Going to be a rough couple on months from here on out :(

But about his color / contrast, its sort of strang, it seems he is "glowing" instead of my females lol He seems a lot brighter these days as he gains weight and length. Maybe it's just a sign he's healthy

I am sure that its a sign of his good health, you can always tell if they are well taken care off. They just look more "vibrant".

I'm so sorry about your mom. Those anniversaries are very difficult to deal with. And its not been very long yet. You're in my thoughts...

Here is Manasa. "She" (haven't officially had her sexed so...meh) is approximately 7 years old. She was a rescue (major rat injury and neglect). You can hardly tell that she had any injuries now! (For those that are curious, HERE is the original thread on her.)

Despite my doubts her eye completely healed and I think she may be only partially blind in it. She's still a sweetie, too! ;)

Wow, she or he is gorgeous, too !!! Almost looks pastel ? Or do the normals just all get ever more beautiful as they get older ?

Amazing, and so inspiring considering where she came from :)

    Thank you so much !!

    Welcome and thank you, too!

She's just a light normal as far as I know (Not a pastel, no green eyes). I'm very partial to her coloration and pattern. I have seen some animals get lighter/darker with age, though, so who knows!

Something else that is interesting, I saw some photographs of her prior to her facial injury and her eye stripes connected at her nose. I haven't seen that very often. :snake:
