Do you ever let your snakes "explore"?
As in take he/she out of he/shes cage and let them slither around for a little bit. I do, and my snakes seem to like it a lot.

Only in the snake room when I'm in there with them...and only when I'm sure they aren't going to...ummm...answer the call of nature. :colbert:

I do let them explore within reason, but I've learned I have to leave myself notes in conspicuous places when I do so. Because I'm very absent-minded, and I have been known to go out to the store or turn on the television and just completely forget that somebody's out, and then it's an ordeal to find them again.

Because of the effect of body warmth, it's more important to check for imminent poo drops when you're handling more so than it when they're just exploring. But I still make a cursory check for obvious bulging in the back end.

I usually just hold my snakes when I have them out, so they mainly just get to explore my hands, arms, shoulders and around my neck sometimes. Every once and awhile I'll let them crawl on my bed or the floor, but I always try to be very conscious of anything they might get themselves into or wrapped around, and I never let them go beyond arm's reach. I'm just so paranoid that they'll get away from me and injure themselves somehow :P Plus, I have a cat, so I have to be extra careful. I agree that they do seem to enjoy it though.

Oh yeah, I always check for "the bulge" too, and I've still had a few close calls ;)

I let mine on the livingroom floor, only when my 3 years old is in bed sleeping. I do have cats but I watch them both and I right there. The cats just watch him and wound what is this thing on my floor.

I don't because there are so many places for them to hide/get lost in.

So... how do you know that he likes it a lot?

So yeah, I have 2 kids who play with the snakes. I've had to break 2 wing chairs already taking a snake out from inside it.

I'll let them explore on the carpet in the living room when a bunch of friends want to see both snakes out and about. Generally speaking, I'll hold them and handle them daily. I love my snakes.

In the summer, however, I'll take them outside sometimes. When I used to reside in my college hometown, last year, I would take them out to the front yard, one at a time, and keep an eye on them, but let them explore in the yard. And I'll enjoy the sunshine and the exceptional weather outside, while keeping an eye on them.

This is North Carolina... And if anyone else resides in NC, on this board, they'll be the first to tell you... The summer can be quite the ideal conditions for the snakes, during the day. It's quite humid and hot. They love it when I take them outside. They don't go all over, but you'll see them explore a patch of grass, fall in love with it, then sit in it and ball up in the sunshine.

I let mine out on the bed and i'll take them around the house when i'm holding them, but I've never had a problem with them going to the bathroom while they're out :P. "george just lucky I guess" :D

I let my girl cruise my bed, but if she's not there then she's in either mine or my boyfriend's hands. She spooked herself off the bed once though (I worried over her a lot but she was totally fine, she was like "wow what the heck happened to the other ground?!", haha) so we're even more careful that she stay away from the edges of the bed now. And she's NEVER allowed on the floor, not just 'cause it's dirty but 'cause I have baseboard heating and if she got in/under those I have no idea how we'd get her out without taking apart the whole thing.

I tried taking her around the house once, but it seemed to scare the living daylights out of her so I just stick to keeping her in my room.
