Our first hatching of 2011!
The clutch is coming out and what have we here?
Sire was Lesser Platnum (Ba'al) and Dam was Lemon Bee (Hathor)

That looks like a queen bee to me. (Pastel Lesser Spider)
The rest of the clutch looks to be 1 pastel and 3 bee somethings. Could have another queen, but that would really surprise me if we slammed the odds that way.

Aw, the first 2011 babies on here, I thought we'd have to wait quite a bit longer to see an. Such beautiful ones, too :)
Please post more when they've managed to slip out of the eggs :)

We managed to catch another one on film with his head sticking out. Looks like 2 queens.
http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/P1160039.jpg
I can't catch this one on film, but it looks like it is a lesser bee or another Queeen bee.

Puts it at 0.0.2 Queen bees, 0.0.1 spider, 0.1.0 Lemon Pastel, and 0.0.1 Lesser bee or queen bee. Extremely good odds.

Re: Our first hatching of 2011!
Wow! Great start for the new year!

And the last finally came out while we were cleaning all the snakes. I was mistaken in that it is not another queen, just what looks like a really hot lemon bee, like mom.

Final count is 2 Queen bees, 1 Lemon Bee, 1 Spider, and 1 Lemon pastel. Now we have used up all our ball python breeding odds for the year. :tears:

Well the spider is going to be sold and our helper is getting second pic of the clutch. We plan on keeping one queen bee at least and probably the lemon bee since our helper is probably going to take the other queen bee. Not sure what we are going to do with the lemon pastel, yet. Probably sell one of our graziani line pastel hold backs and keep the lemon pastel, but still no decision has been made.

Re: Our first hatching of 2011!

We didn't even see ours ovulate. We started pairing them up around November of 2009 up till June/July of 2010 didn't think anything happened, so we gave up until this November. Paired her up once with the same male for 3 days. 1 day after removing the male we went in to clean the cage and found her sitting on 5 eggs. It was a little crazy and we didn't get the pictures and all we generally like to since we had to clean and warm up the incubator, run out and get vermiculite, and everything else since we generally don't start seeing ball python eggs until March.

Glad I'm not the only one this has happened to :P, but thankfully the bator was going with a previous surprise clutch , my fellas were doing things on the down-low last season hardly saw any locks, this season they are going strong (except my lesser, but he could be doing things on the DL also.
I hope the rest of your season is as great as the start :)

Wow, sweet clutch! Congrats on a great way to start 2011 :gj:
