NYC "wildlife" 2010 DUW!!!

Living in the big city we dont always see the we not always see how many different creatures live around us... most what we see are pigeons, squirrel, seagulls,some sparrows and *cough* rodents...

Fortunately NYC have plenty patches of greens smaller and bigger parks and such.

Unfortunately I dont have enough time last year to roar with my camera to often but i manage snatch few pictures.

Most of them are Birds.. but of course red ears sliders are in every city pound so one really handsome manage to get here as well...

What is that rainbow colored dark bird ?

Some sort of blackbird or raven I would guess, but wow it's beautiful.

I think it's a starling, but not 100% sure.

I AM sure that the second picture is my favorite for subject and composition. But they're all simply beautiful!!

It's a Grackle.

I really like the picture of the white throated sparrow, I don't think I've ever even see one yet.... :(

Nice finds on the cormorant and what looks to be a young kestrel too. :gj:

@Garweft... Cormorant and white throat sparrow believe me or not those are Central Park Shoots... Kestrel was nesting One block from where I live in Brooklyn NY.....

I have new Camera this Year My Old Sony Died last Year.. More pixels Longer zoom.. got some filters..

Astronomical and Calendar Spring starts already.. hope this Year gonna get some more...

Great pics! I love the NYC wildlife.....

That is a great shot of the American Kestrel! I live in Austin and I love hunting down birds of prey that live in urban environments. Very pretty! Looks to be 2-3 years old.

I see the OP posted this in Jan. but since I have not commented yet, those really are some super nice pics you took :gj:

Yea is amusing how well they adapted from cliffs to skyscrapers...

I really hope get some nice shoots of Peregrine Falcons this year near Central Park :cool:
