Dimple in eye

So today i took my snake out for a couple of pics and noticed that there was a dimple on his eye in one of the the photos and i was wondering if this could cause any problems or if it would just go away next shed?

whats your setup like could be your humidity is to low

I believe that is a result of to low humidity during shed,i recently read a thread similar to this one,At fist it appears as a you have described as ''dent" then the eyes get more wrinkle looking.It is retained eye cap shed that did not come off during shed,if the next shed goes good it should come right off.

thats my set up right now and i think that the humidity % is wrong on this thing because i have another hygrometer and it reads exactly 10% lower than what this one reads so i dont really know which one to use :S

I wouldn't worry too much about the dimple, just go ahead and make sure that your humidity and temps are consistent in the proper range and in the next shed session it should go away. Might be helpful to switch over to cypress bedding and that will bump your humidity up by at least 10%. I've noticed jumps of up to 30% after switching from paper towels to cypress.

It depends because from what i read if your ball python keeps multiple layers of retained eye shed it can effect his eye sight and might even cause him to go blind.It can also due to dehydration now or during the shed so make sure the snake is getting enough water.Do not rely just on my advice though wait for others with more experience in this matter to give there suggestions.

It's hard for me to see the pic on my phone but if it is just a dent and not a retained eye cap if you give her a soak for a little bit it will probably go back to normal. You could also spray the tank down.

A dent is not a retained eye cap do not try to remove it!!! It is just a product of lower humidity. Just bump it up a bit and it will go away although it never seems to bother them at all in either case.

Humidity gauges are notoriously poor. Most cheap digital combos are poor for both temp and humidity. The humidity is easy to check (too bad temps are not so)

Here is a link to the calibration method. The problem you will have is that likely there is no way to change the one you have but you can buy a cheap calibrate-able analogue one designed for humidors can be very very accurate.

This has happened to by BP a lot. It's normal. It's usually caused by low humidity levels.

i just bumped the humidity up to 60+ and tomorrow im going to buy some co co husks or cypress mulch so hopefully that will do some good and get his eye back to normal :)

also which one would be better, coco husks or cypress mulch?

I use paper towels or newspaper so I can't help you with that question. Sorry :(

the vet i take my snake to said that dents or dimples in the is a sign of dehydration.

I personally like coco husk products I actually use the peat version is is fine bits rather than chunks. I used to use cyprus but I realized how critical to Florida everglades cyprus is and to cut them down for no reason other than to produce mulch seems quite sad to me. Cyprus works well but so does coco and at least where I am coco is way cheaper!

I have the jungle mix. wood chips and it helps me out.

If it is just a dent from low humidity heavily spraying the snake directly with your mister bottle will make it go away within a few hours, maybe a little longer.

If it is a retained eye cap (it will look less dented and more wrinkled, like a raisin sorta) you just need to keep the humidity at a proper level and when the snake gets ready to shed just make sure to spray the snake down a little extra right before it sheds the skin so it has an easier time getting the extra eye caps off.

A few good soaks cant hurt either...
