I fed my snake last night and now hes acting strange.....
I just fed him last night and hes acting strange. like he is shaking his head a lot, hes not in his hide like he normally is, he is putting his head upside down at times. I am not sure if he is having problems moving and is just struggling or what. I really need help!

Did you feed live or p/k?

    How big is the snake?

What size prey did you feed?

Is this your first time feeding or have you had your snake for some time?

I fed him a live "hopper", it was about the same size as his body. Yes, this is the first time feeding the snake in his new home. However it has been 10 days since i got him and he was fed at that time. The last time he was fed he actually ate a pinky and a very similar sized hopper. He puked the hopper out about 2 days later i believe.

I am not sure. But it doesnt look like either to tell you the truth. His patterns are mostly light brown circle type shapes with dark spots in them...

Do you feed him in an enclosure with aspen or bark or something that could have gotten lodged in his mouth? Sounds like he may have something stuck in there bugging him? Just a thought...

I've never run into this problem myself so I'm not sure I want to suggest how to check...you'd somehow have to figure out how to get his mouth open and look inside... Do a google search for ball python impaction and you'll probably find some info on it.

It could also be that he's having a problem realigning his jaws. It usually only takes a few "yawns" to get it straight but maybe he's having problems? Does his mouth look like it's closing normally?

Check your temps. They need the right temps to properly digest meals. Regurgitation is a sign that your temps might be off...

yeah his jaw closes fine. I actually think he might have IBD???? Even though i dont see how thats possible because i got him from a family friend for christmas and all of his snakes (5 bp's and a red tail) are just fine. And this JUST I mean JUST started happening right after I fed him. Could it be from the mouse size?

    Hi,

I would open his mouth and inspect it before jumping to IBD. But you really shouldn't have fed him if he threw up 8 days ago.

I agree and I also think no need to be worrying about IBD quite yet. Its not a super common issue although very scary. I think checking the mouth and checking husbandry would be your best bet esp since the snake regurged.

If you are VERY gentle with a bic pen you can hold a small snake in one hand and use the other with the pen to work his mouth open. Get your buddy who gave you the snake help you check his mouth.
