small room humidifier

situation is that I use a space heater which sucks the moisture out of the air. room is way too cold not to use(isn't heated by ac) so this was my alternative. it keeps my room at about 80 so that's my ambient temp and my hot side is controlled by flexwatt with a t-stat. question is what would be a good reliable warm mist humidifier for a small room(was the weight room before it was the reptile room) :) thanks in advance!

Maybe my room/humidifier just failed, but my experience using just a small regular humidifier (the size recommended for my room size) from the store didn't really result in a significant increase in room humidity. you may need one of the larger ones for a space much larger than the room you are planning to put it in if you're looking for an increase significant enough for your creatures.

But thats just my experience, so don't take it as law. I would suggest maybe working on the habitats specifically for humidity unless the dry air is bothering you as well.

yeah I get about 50% but it will continually drop over time if I don't mist everyday. I'd rather be closer to 65 then have the opportunity to bump it up for sheds

I am having the same issues, I have my racks in a large walk-in closet in my room and need a space heater to keep the temps up. I have a good size humidifier in the room, but have noticed little change without spraying the cypress mulch every once in awhile. I am going to invest in a larger humidifier and hope for the best!!

place the water bowls on the warm side of the tubs, you may have to fill them more frequently, but it will raise the humidity in your tank/tub

I have used this method in the past but as follicles are developing and bowl wrapping increases more and more frequently wouldn't putting the bowl on the hot side sort of defeat the purpose of her trying to keep cool?

Well I just spary water in the tank right now he stays on the heat side soo I but his hide which is a small little box with a whole cut in it keeps the the hum up. kind of like a hum hide

well this is just an update about my humidity situation. I went out and bought a $45 holmes humidifier. it is a warm mist because I heard cool mist lowers the room temps too much. it brought my ambient room humidity to around 45% and the humidity in the tubs is 57%. I also covered all holes in the tubs by turning them around to help maintain humidity. overall very pleased with it. I just wanted to get something to replenish the humidity I was losing due to the space heater. now that my female is about to be in shed cycle I just mist the tub to get 70% humidity for her shed.

i use two water bowls. one on the warm side, ON the heating pad, and one on the cool side. you can also use a metal bowl on the hot side and fill it with sphagnum moss, that's what i do. some use just two straight water bowls.

helps keep humidity up, but also peace of mind for when you take a vacation away and the snake dookies in the water bowl. backup bowl FTW

haha I totally agree. I do have my water bowl for my male pastel on the heat source but if I put it over there for my female it would defeat the purpose of her bowl wrapping haha

you wouldn't put the water bowl on the heat source unless you had two bowls, otherwise you're right...it's defeating the purpose.
