My Pomona Pickup!
I made the drive north to the Pomona Reptile Supershow, and I must say, I did not leave disappointed. The place was packed and the venue is nice. Every time I see those Indigo snakes... I get that much closer to getting one. Those things are incredible! There was a good variety of ball python morphs considering it's so early in the year, although it seemed the majority of them were male.
Here's my pickup: Female Spinner from Jeff Luman Reptiles!

The possible icing on the cake is that she's 50% het caramel! Big ups to Jeff! He was a great guy to deal with and answered all my questions. I didn't even bother haggling on the price like I normally do.
Anyone else make it out to that show? Share your pickups!

I went. I picked up a corn snake this time. The Pomona show is always packed, and now they run it TWICE a year...it'll be back in August
Excellent new addition you have there. Hope she proves out for you. :gj:

Lucky you! i went today in hoped of getting an older pastel female., but they had nothing but males, and most of the females were like3 month old.
I left with nothing T_T I plan to go back in August though.

Lol they had nothing but male because half the ppl whole showed up a 930 where female hunting! I wasnt gonna take my time until I found this out so it was a race against all the other guys to get a female. There was alot of choices but I ended up walking with a Mojave and spider het ghost. I was pretty excited about the m an raced the 400 miles back to AZ!

She has a future date with that awesome Calico you produced! The Spider morph was my first ball python addiction. I got my first ball (normal, still have her) in 2002 after reading an article about morphs in Reptiles magazine. I immediately went online and was shocked at the prices ($10-$15,000). When Spiders became affordable... I started hearing about the wobble and saw that infamous youtube video of that Spinner, and decided that I wouldn't work with the morph (kinking caramels too).
Well it's funny how things can change in a heartbeat. That change started when I bought that Calico from you. Caliders are wicked! I love unusual and irregular patterned morphs. The Calico color affects the brown part of the alien patterns on bps, which is why it works so well with spiders, as that pattern is spread throughout the body (with very little black). I imagine it will also work very well with Pinstripes and Genetic Stripes (which I also looked for at the Pomona show, but didn't find). Well Spinners are mega-reduced in patterning, and I imagine a Calico Spinner will be an awesome animal.
After reading recent threads here about the Spider morph, I decided that its flaws were something I could live with. Fortunately I have not witnessed any wobbles or corkscrews after the stress of handling at the show, travelling for 2 hours in my car, and observations as she explored her tub. We'll see how she handles feeding in a few days.

Nice pick up, shows allways have something that i have to have also.

Congrats! :gj: I was also hesitant to get a spider combo before for the same reason but the beauty of the spider gene can't be ignored. They are just an awesome morph!

Very cool!!! She's awesome! :gj:

Re: My Pomona Pickup!
Calico spinner? That's gonna be amazing for sure. Goodluck w/ the future pairing. Spinner is one of my fave combos. Gotta have one soon:)

Very beautiful.
She literally looks like "gold". That beautiful, rich deep "antique gold" color.
Gorgeous !

Re: My Pomona Pickup!
I tried feeding her the next day after I got her home, and was a little disappointed that she didn't take... but then her belly turned pink and she went into a shed cycle. Here she is with new skin:

And then she went to town on a rat pup!

If she's as good an eater as my other 2010s... I'll be in pretty good shape!

She's definitely a beauty. :gj:

I took the Spinner to class today!
I took my Spinner ball python to class today (I'm a high school Chemistry teacher), and she was great! Very calm, was held by many a student, and after 5 periods, ate a fat rat pup in front of a class of squealing teenagers. My classes were amazed at the beauty of this girl. For many of them this was their first time ever seeing a ball python. Here's another pic of my little star:
