Ellipsis Pics
Thought I'd share some pics I took of my Lesser BP, Ellipsis, that I took over the holidays :) I used my Nikon D90 and my sister's Macro lense for most of these shots. Most are of her eating since my sister was fascinated with the process :P

Purchased from BHBreptiles. Did find a couple ticks on her, treated her for mites and might have found a couple bodies after. I've never had to deal with them before though, so I'm not entirely sure. I'm assuming since he's a big time breeder, things like this is kind of unavoidable? She seems healthy either way and has eaten a hopper every 5 days without fail :)

Re: Ellipsis Pics
:O You were the one who got her!!! Now I know who to hate. jk I went down there before the holidays and wanted her, but didn't have the extra cash at the time. I went down there on Monday hoping to pick her up, but as you know she was gone. Oh well at least she got a good home, and Brian had another one that I really liked. Great pickup. :gj:

Re: Ellipsis Pics
Gorgeous lesser! Do you have any breeding plans?

I can't imagine ticks and mites being "unavoidable". Good example of why it is important to quarantine new animals.

Lol! Well to be honest, I wasn't in the market for another BP after I sold my pinstripe, but my friend kept tempting me with pictures and when he sent me a picture of this girl, I wanted to strangle him! Then I ended up begging him to let me use his address to ship her to xD My hands were shaking so bad when I was filling out the info and I was a mess until she was finally delivered! Small world though :) I'm jealous that you can actually go and see them in person, I would love to get a glance at a large breeder's collection. Guess I'll just have to settle for the Arlington NARBC in Feb. I'm glad you found something you wanted! <333

Thank you n_n This was exactly the type of coloring I'd been looking for ever since I found out about BP morphs :) <333

I have a friend who has a male spider, so if he's still around I'll probably ask him to let me breed her to him and make Lesser Bees :) (no guarantee since we're in the military) but I'm also anxious to make a Kingpin. My ultimate goal is a Lesser Clown.. freakin' gorgeous.

I haven't found any on her since, so hopefully I wont have this issue. Definitely not something I wanted to go through, but I'll definitely be quarantining any other animals I get in the future.

Ticks on a CB animal are you sure? Have you spoken to Brian about this?

Thanks :) These were done in horrible light though, hopefully once it warms up I can get some decent pictures of her with natural light :)

I'm not entirely sure, I just noticed a black speck on her stomach. I knocked that one off and lost it, but the second one I managed to catch on a white piece of paper. It was firm and round and didn't hop away, but I did see it's legs kicking. I'm assuming it was tick. I also noticed she had some upturned scales, not sure if this was normal? I didn't look anymore into it because she seemed pretty healthy and I thought the scales might have been bent during the delivery since she was on the road 5 extra hours due to a hold over.
I didn't contact Brian, I figured this was probably a common thing with big time breeders and after looking her over I only found two "ticks" and one possible mite body after soaking her in water and none after treating her with the mite spray. I guess I should have looked more into this. It was over a month ago, do you think I should still get in contact with him about it?

Re: Ellipsis Pics
Amazing pictures of an awesome snake! :gj: The last feeding shot is definitely my fave!
-
Awesome looking snake! Hehe eating it butt first too? :P Does she always eat them backwards? Hagi *always* eats his head first. Once he started butt first, then changed his mind...

Absolutely drop dead gorgeous snake, big congrats !!!
Ticks and mites ? That is not cool. What you describe certainly does sound like a non-engorged tick.
That should not be something thats to be "expected" unless you were to pick through some imports.
I would bring it up to the seller. You don't have to be ugly about it, but if I was the seller / breeder I would hope that my customers would bring something like that to my attention, so the issue could be looked into and corrected.
Again, beautiful snake :)

Well I've fed her three times now, and I think the first one she ate head first, the second (as pictured) butt first, and then the third was a little.. sideways. So I'm gonna peg her as a "whatever gets to my mouth first, goes down first" eater ;) <333

Well I will definitely let him know once his site is back online, I had thought about letting him know, but then I figured "Well, even a top notch kennel will have some fleas" so I just let it drop :S I'll keep this in mind for the future :)
And thank you very much n_n I'm extremely happy with her! <333

Thank you! She also has an awesome disposition :) She struck at me a few times when I first got her because she was in shed, but since then I haven't had any issues out of her. She even lets me rub her head without much fuss. She still doesn't like being out in the open though :P But hopefully she'll grow out of that in time. <333
