Can't Wait!!!

I've been ogling these snakes for a while now, and once I saw Sean's new crop of babies, I had to have one...or two. I'm so excited with this opportunity to work with a new morph, study the genetics, and see new combinations. They are not here yet, so Sean kindly gave me permission to post his pictures, courtesy of Exotics by Nature. We've only seen pastel puzzles and super pastel puzzles from this project, and you may have already seen Tim Bailey's awesome super pastel puzzle posted earlier. This is a pastel puzzle...

Interseting new morph. I bet it will make awesome combos soon. Im starting to imagine: puzzle lessers, puzzle calicos, not to mention 3 morph combos, etc.. :)

Yeah! I started thinking about all the potential combos and decided I couldn't wait around for someone else to make them. Imagine a pastel puzzle calico or a super pastel puzzle calico!

Definitely a great snake and without a doubt some cool combos in your future.

awesome pickup i've seen the pastel puzzle and super in person and i thought they were out of this world. can you imagine a mojave puzzle?

Are you getting a male or a female? I think it is a very exciting untapped morph seans been tryin to get me to buy one since they came out haha. Very nice pick up and a ton of potential there.

Congrats in advance! :) I really like the puzzle stuff so far ... It will be very interesting to see if it can be separated from the pastel gene!

Oop ... And just after I hit "reply," I realized that it probably can if it's known recessive and there are heterozygous pastel / homozygous puzzles ... So it will be interesting to see what it DOES look like when separated from the pastel gene! :P

I got to see them at Sean's place. They are really cool looking critters. Congrats! Can't wait to see you mix some Calico into them. :D

Thanks! Sean at Exotics by Nature has worked with them for about three seasons now, and they appear to be autosomal recessive. The actual base morph, the puzzle, has yet to be seen since every previous breeding has involved pastels.

Congrats Maki. I was over at Sean's the other day when you were on the phone. He told me then that you were strongly debating what to get. I am glad to see you picked up on the project. I think you will enjoy watching those guys grow up. I have seen plenty of the adults, and they are as amazing as the babies. They also are voracious feeders, and not necessarily the nicest snakes, but they sure do like their food. They settle down after they get some size on them. Good luck with your future projects with those animals.

p.s. Make sure you take some pics when they get to your house.
