    New Striped California King
Got a new addition yesterday. Craig's list rescue. Person was moving and needed to find him a new home. Once I saw the snakes living conditions it became a bit of a rescue though. So we have a striped California king, sold to the previous keeper as a male. Appears to be over 4 feet long and in good health. I will do some proper weighing and measuring and all that a few days after the first feed. So without further delay here he is.

Yeah thats a standard stick of ram. For those of you who don't know how big that is, 5 1/4 inches long. I didn't have a chance to measure but he ways in at 800 grams exactly.

Yeah I felt the 60 dollars the guy wanted for a "rehoming" fee was worth it. It would not have been my first choice for a new addition by a long shot though. I was able to get a half way decent measurement and I am going to say he is anywhere between 4.25 and 4.5 feet long. If I were to go out and get a king snake I think it would be a mexican king or a brooks king. Of course I may still have to do that.

Actually this guy is calm as can be. Doesn't much enjoy being pulled out of his setup but most snakes aren't thrilled about such disturbances. I get a good tail rattling out of him on occasion but so far no strikes. I can't wait to get his now 3x2x2 plastic cage. Right now he is in a 20 gallon breeder and its not enough space.

He's beautiful! All of my Cali's have been very calm once they grew out of their baby stage. I have one that never musked me, even as a baby (I've probably just jinxed myself).

The one I have periodically musks me, never bitten by her yet.

my albino strikes nearly everytime the cage is opened unless its me,... even if its just a water change,... her previous owner admits to not feeding her right but that was four years ago and she still has additude,... i take it this is normal???
