Spying on chondros: It's a red, it's a yellow, it's another yellow, etc.!
So we're just a couple of days away from our clutch hatching and as I was moving them over to the hatch tub today I saw something pretty cool! One of my favorite parts about green trees is never knowing what'll come out of the egg. With a few of our eggs, we've had dark or clear spots on some of them since day 1, and as it turns out, you can see color through these spots now!

I didn't want to screw around with them too much but as I was moving them I saw at least three yellows and a red one....can't wait!

Hey we both work 7 days/week here so when would be better for you to come over and check them out? Probably the weekend?

Me too! I'll be posting pictures as soon as I can - tomorrow is day 49, so probably by the weekend some will be out of the egg and in their tubs.

Pairing was an adult male and adult female :)

We actually don't know the lineage 100% on these ones. They have a lot of Biak characteristics but since I don't know for sure I'm hesitant to say "They're a ________ locality"

Actually the whole locality thing bugs me a little bit because how many people actually know with 100% certainty where theirs come from unless they're wild caught animals? Of all the ones we've hatched here, some of them display Biak traits, some Aru traits, some Sorong traits, etc. Regardless of where they're from, they're cool looking snakes, and unless you're out to breed a locality line (think Okeetee corns, for example) it really doesn't make a bit of difference IMO.

I could lie and say I know what the locality is to get a sale, but it's not something that's real big on my list of priorities when incubating these guys and finally getting them to eat. I'd rather just be honest and say "I'm not sure, but here's a picture of a sibling or a parent, etc"

Ha ha! I get your point. It makes my head spin thinking about it. A lot of the localities have the same traits too.

Ok, so a better question would be...can you post pics of the parents? :D:please:

Yeah I can post some pictures of the parents but it'll probably be later tonight. I'm at work right now and those pics are on my home computer...plus once I get home I should have new little chondros to attend to! During the first couple of days of incubation, we had a faulty thermometer so by the time we realized that it was reading about 5 degrees lower than any other thermometer we have they had been sitting a little cool for a couple of days. I don't know if that will do anything to them as far as delaying the hatch... Based on what we've seen through candling and through the little "windows" the other night, they're full size and colored so we should be good to go!

In the meantime, take a look at my other posts on the morelia subforum here - those are all the direct siblings to this group!

I'm anxiously awaiting the chance to take pictures :)

My wife is off today and I haven't gotten a text from her about any egg activity, so maybe by the time I get home they'll be pipping
